News from Prince Albert and area By Mrs. Grace Beacock I, a writer of this column wish Mr. P. Hvidsten former publisher of this paper a rewarding and' well-desery- ed retirement. And I feel convinced his son, Peter will serve equally as well in this field of future responsibili- ties, following in his dad's footsteps. Last' Sunday morning Roy Robinson warmly greet- ed all upon arrival at wor- ship. Roy's warm welcome did not compare with the chilly temperatures of the sanctuary due to scarcity of . fuel oil, But regardless everyone pleasantly co-oper- ated including our minister Rev. R. Brawn who officiat- ed when Mr. Wayne Ander- son joined our congregation by profession of faith. Then the following joined * by means of transfer, Mrs. "Mabel Graham and Mrs. Sylvia Lindsay both from Church of England. Also Mrs. "Elva" K. Elson from Greenwood United Church, - Mrs. "Sharon" B. Wana- maker, Mrs. "Lucy" J. Wil- son, Mrs. "'Sandy" D. Robin- son, Mrs. 'Nancy' R. Greenwood all from Port Perry United Church. Clerk of session, Mr. B. Snelgrove extended a hand of welcome to all. The choir rendered a lovely anthem, Mrs. June Harris and Miss K. Chambers singing solo parts accompanied by or- ganist Mrs. Snelgrove. The Minister presided over Holy Communion - asgisted by elders Mrs. R. Robinson, Messers. B. Snelgrove, T. Hodgins, A. Martyn, C. Willes, F. Harris. Offering collected by Mr. Fritze Dantzer and Mr. Jim McGregor. Mrs. R. Olaisen arrang- ed a typical birthday party by: inviting neighbour child- ren for her little son Mikey's big day of gifts and food. Same type of party was held for 5-year-old Niki Bardel- eben at his parent's home. Last Wednesday evening Mrs. Les Beacock was among the ladies invited to the home of Mrs. Jim Coates, Shirley Rd., who thoughtful- ly arranged a baby shower in honour of Judy and Bryan Beacock's new son who was the recipient of many lovely - gifts. Contests and delicious lunch ended a pleasant party. . Congratulations are due Mr. and Mrs. Norman White of our village whose new baby girl was first to appear in Port Perry Hospital for this year.
