In the first game, the Wheels led 4-0 before New- castle retaliated with two and it was four more goals for Port Perry before the visitors scored again. The Wheels played just well enough to win and were slow and often careless around their own net which caused the goals. It was a different story on Sunday when the Wheels visited Donevan Arena in Oshawa to play Oshaya- Goaltending made the dif- ference as the Wheels out- shot Oshawa but were foiled on almost every occasion. The score should have been much higher for the local squad but the Markham goaltender turned in a good game in nets. The netminding for Port was shared between Jerry Jack- man and Paul Goreski who both played well in getting the shutout. On Saturday, January 10, the Malmont team travelled to Port Hope for a league game and came out on the short end of a 3 to 1 count. "Port came out flat in this game as they seemed beat from the game, the night before, with Markham. Port Hope opened the scoring at the two minute mark of the first period and this stood up until the 1 minute mark of the second period when Jamie Lane assisted by Brian Henricks tied the score.
