This is exactly half-way around the world from home in Port Perry. Following his University interest in Anthropology, Tim has visited dozens of countries of Europe, the mid-east, India and Asia. He will nowy proceed home via Indonesia, Australia, New Zealand, Fiji and the Islands of the Pacific, arriving in Vancouver about Easter- time. MURRAY Electrical Contractor ~ Domestic & Industrial i «7° OBITUARY James Edwin (Ted) Jackson, a well-known auctioneer and an active member of this community all his life, died suddenly, December 21, in his 76th year. Mr. Jackson of 33¢ Queen Street in Port. Perry was born on Scugog Island, June 16, 1900, but moved to Port Perry with his family as a boy. He lived here all his life, first auctioneering here with his father, and when his father died, he continued auctioneering on his own and operated an implement dealership. Mr. Jackson's commit- ment to society and com- munity began very early in life. He served in the Royal Navel Air service during the First World War when only a teenager, and when he returned to Port Perry, be- came ihvolved in commun- ity work. He was an elder and stewart, and a member of the Board of Trustees of the Port Perry United Church, a member of the Oddfellows, an active legion member, a Port Perry councillor for over ten years, a hydro commissioner, and the chairman of the committee . that built Port Perry's pre- sent arena. Surviving are his wife, the former Gertrude Elliott of ~ Port Perry; son Wesley of Toronto, daughter Zula of Port Perry, sisters Mar- guerite Brock and Patricia G. Wylie in charge.
