They stopped at the Ponder- osa at Peterorough for supper to complete a lovely day. Winners at the weekly Sen- ior Citizens' card party on Tuesday evening were: first' Mrs. Pear Day, second Jim Latimer, third Mrs. Grace Bradley, fourth Harold Mec- Diarmid, fifth Miss Hazel English, sixth Mrs. Reid Cook, Low Mrs. Florence East. Another beautiful wedding was "solemnized in Black- stock United Church on Sat- 'urday when Elizabeth Thompson became the bride of Chris Dowson. The recep- tion and wedding dance was held in the Centre. Mr. R.H. Heaslip, Milton, spention the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. Harry Van- Camp and on Sunday they were all guests of Mr. and Mrs. Glenn VanCamp and family, Port Perry. Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Lgrm- er, Doug and Craig attenued the silver wedding anniver -sary-of -Mr.-and-Mrs.-Allan McDugald of Fullerton on Sunday. Sympathy is extended to Mrs. Harold Larmer and to Mrs. Russell Larmer on the Recreation - passing last week -of their sister-in-law Mrs. Gordon Avery of Little Britain. After a very uneventful summer in the Institute work Blackstock Women's Insti- tute met at the Community Hall on the evening of Sept. 3 - with Mrs. Shortridge presid- ing. The meeting opened in the usual manner with the Ode followed by the Collect. The Roll Call, "A Hobby I enjoy' was answered by 14 mem- bers. Mrs. Margaret Van- Camp read the minutes of the June meeting and Muriel Hoskin presented the treas- urer's report. A lengthy digcussion was held concprning the Insti- tute's part in the upcoming Plowing Match. Invitations were accepted from- Solina and Janetville W.I. as well as tickets and pens to be sold for the District's 75th Anni- versary. Mrs. Gladys Thompson was in charge of the pro- gram under, the theme Cultural Affairs. The Motto, There is no need of dispan minds as' well as dispan "hands. A good display of crafts was enjoyed by all. Dora Martyn gave a demon- stration. Mrs. Roy Taylor presented two amusing read- ings - Jim Brown's Sister's Wedding and The Telegram. The Evening Unit of the UCW met at the home of the President Joan Thompson. Worship service was con- ducted by Donna Kyte. Plans were finalized for the Candlélight Dinner with A and P to be held on Sept. 25 . at 6:30 at the Blackstock Recreation Centre. Tickets at $1.50 were distributed to the members.
