I'm beginning to wonder about this new invention that hangs on everyones wall and doesn't ring when someone wants us! Of course, every- one knows how monopolized the Bell is, well I'm sure Bell Canada works weekends and holidays only! Thats just - about the way our 10 party phone system has been work- ing for the ci two or three «INTERNATIONAL CANADIAN & WORLD Plowing & FARM MACHINERY SHOW weeks. Would you believe our phone comes on Friday nights and shuts off Monday nights almost automatically at 5:00 p.m. Well you phone repair service and you might just as well be asking for their right hand because Bell Canada says we will repair it . before 5:00 tomorrow night, which could mean anytime - between then and five days later. Now ask them why it will take so long for them to repair the line. The answer of course is "we are very busy and we're laying off" such an efficient business you run Ma Bell and you want to raise our rates!!! I've heard that going from door to door isn't too much fun because its a bore and people get put out at having their personal lives interfer- red with. Well, what a riot this past week when a pair of local girls have a special job for the government to per- form. Larry still manages to make it home on the weekends to get some good home cooking. But a sure sign of Fall is the corn roasts, that we've all been attending and now our fellow farmers are starting to plug away at silo filling. Lindsay Exhibition will soon be here as well as the many other fall fairs. Then, of course, the Brougham Steam Show is this next weekend, then that all important Prov- incial election and don't for- get the World Plowing Match the last week of September. Thats just for the month of September folks! Irs. Laurence Nichels and Mrs. Murdock Belair are getting their books in order and Mrs. Dale Bolton ° and Kelly joined together 14 for the fall 4-H classes. This section will be entitled "A Touch of Stitchery" and all girls over 12 years old by September 1st, are eligible to join this worthwhile unit so it you're interested please con- tact one of the above ladies. The Unit II ladies held their monthly meeting at Mrs. Roy Puckrin's home on Monday evening. Also ladies please don't forget the UCW PORT PERRY STAR -- Wednesday, Sept. 10, 1975 -- 27 'News of interest from Seagrave area meeting tonight (Wed.) at the church. Mrs. Procunier is the special guest and she is planning on showing slideg of her trip to Europe. Everyone is welcome to attend.
