Marion Layzell PORT PERRY PLAYGROUND This past week has gone by really fast at Playground because we've had so many things to do. Tuesday Yas pretty quiet but during the day, we walked to the park dpd then later, we made people out of leaves and twigs. Wednesday was a special day because we had our pet show. All the stuffed animals were cute but out of - the bunch, we picked Karyn Raines for having the small- est stuffed pet, Kari Fielding for the biggest pet, Margaret Rowland for the prettiest pet and Michael Durham. for having the cutest pet. Later we had a nice suprise visit from a real Labrador puppy, named Duchess. Many thanks to the puppy's owner, Mrs. Dorothy Walker, for letting us see her. But the. biggest day of all was Thurs- day, when we loaded a bus kindness of Hobbs Bever- ages, Flamingo Pastries and "sandwiches made up by 'the" local mothers. The young boys and girls * from Scarborough had a fun day in Port Perry and no doubt will look forward to a - return trip. Each player and coach were presented with a Western Weekend Button by the Chamber of Commerce. We would also like to thank all the mothers, and brothers and sisters, that helped during the day. BLACKSTOCK PLAYGROUND Playground is nearly over for another year. . We were very pleased to have Mrs. Adams come and lead us ini a'lively sing-song. On Thursday, we hdd areal ' treat. All three playgrounds invaded Bowmanville Zoo. We had lunch there and then spent the afternoon seeing the birds and animals. To finish up the week, we went over to Port Perry Friday 'morning to see the Kiddies Parade. . Then we . spent the remainder of the morning at Palmer Park. Once again this year, the - Playground staff are plan- ning a Parade and a Penny ' Carnival in Port Perry to bring Playground to a close. "The parade is at 6:30 and the Penny Carnival is to follow afterwards at therink. Don't forget to dress-up and assemble at R.H. Cornish Public School at 6:15 p.m. Hope to see children and parents come to help make this evening a success.
