This Vaca- tion School was jointly spon- sored by the Nestleton Sun- day School of the United Church A.C.W. Leaders of the school were Donna Kyte and Ruby Parsons while Directors of Music were Katherine Corden and Judi Mount;oy. On Friday pare- nts and grandparents were invited to an Open House where all the many crafts were displayed. Ruby Par- sons welcomed those who attended and introduced the Music Directors who in turn led the children in many lively songs. Donna Kyte then introduced the teachers as follows-Debbie McLaugh- lin who taught the 3 year olds; Jean Horton and Cheryl Graham with the 4 year olds, Pat Smith and Laurel Vine with the 5 year olds, Carol Mairs and Jean Adams with the 6 year olds, Mary Lou Malcolm and Jan- is McLaughlin the 7 year olds, Joanne Lee and Bever- ly Montgomery the 8 year olds, Janet Parsons and Jo- anne Wolters the 9 year olds, Beth Schyrburt and Ann Kristensen the 10 year olds, Carol Locke and Lois Van- camp the 11 year olds, and Cindy Vancamp those 12 and over. Baby sitters for the weeks school were Gail Malcolm, Nora Litte, and Grace Gibson. The children enjoyed some games while the adults viewed the many craft dis- plays. Lunch of ice cream, cookies and a cold drink concluded the afternoon which was the end of a most successful Vacation School. Mr. and Mrs. Avery Whis- kin, Oshawa, Mr, Ross Whit- field, Debbie and her boy- friend of Mississauga were last Sunday guests of Mr. and Mrs. Earl Bradburn. Dr. and Mrs. Jack Marlow, John and Patricia of Dundas, Mr. and Mrs. Neil Werry and Joy, Mr. and Mrs. Rob Mair, Mr. and Mrs. Neil Bailey, Howard and Tara Lynne, along with Mr. and Mrs. Fraser Wilson of Nestleton were Sunday guests of Mr. and Mrs. Grant Thompson at their cottage atView Lake to celebrate Mr. Thompson's birthday. This area along with most of Southern Ontario is exper- iencing a summer of ex- tremes--extreme heat, ex- treme drought and then on Sunday extreme rainfall. Few people can remember when so much rain fell in such a short time as it did on Sunday afternoon. Fortun- ately there was not a severe wind or storm and so few reports of damage except many flooded basements etc. In the midst of this shower, Mrs. Harold Kyte was host- ing a lovely bridal shower in honour of a bride-to-be Eliz- abeth Thompson. This show- er unlike the unusual rain shower, followed the tradi- tional pattern with the happy bride receiving many lovely gifts along with the good wishes of many of her Black- stock friends. Elizabeth re- plied in the usual manner and a tasty lunch was ser- ved. Another bride-to-be was also feted with another love- ly bridal shower. On Satur- + day afternoon Mrs. Noreen Malcolm and daughter Mary Lou hosted a shower in hon- our of Diane Taylor. Diane after opening her many love- ly gifts thanked all the ladies present for their gifts and good wishes. A lovely lunch was served at this delightful party too. Craig Hoskin entertained a number of his little friends in honour of his 6th birthday on Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. Neil Bailey, Howard -and Tara Lynne visited Mr. Gordon Paisley, Craig and Cathy who are starying on his brother's farm at Dunnville. On Fri- day the Bailey and Paisley families enjoyed a day at Fantasy Island on Grande Island, New York. Lisa Little held a birthday party on Saturday when she entertained a number of her little seven-year old friends. A speedy recovery is wished for Fred Marlow who is in Oshawa Hospital and Mrs. Pat Fletcher who un- derwent surgery in Port Perry Hospital.
