A very impressive and enjoyable service was held in Good- wood United Church on Sunday when the churches of the B.U.G.L.E. charge obser- ved the fiftieth anniversary of the United Church of anada. The Rev. Archie 'ott, the minister, con- ucted the service and Mr. Mike Ward, the assistant- minister gave the message. Mrs. Mike Ward had charge Blackstock (continued Argue, Mr. and Mrs. Lyle Millson and family, Bow- manville. Grade 8 Banquet : The annual banquet for the A 8 students and their rents was held at the Recreation Centre on Tues. June 24th. The 0.N.O. cater- ed to the delicious dinner. The following students re- ceived special achievement awards for proficiency - Mathematics - Allan Goss; ' Literature - Debra Sutton; History - Yvonne Catty; .Science - Craig Larmer; Geography - Anne Kristen- sen; Academic Achieve- ment - Yvonne Catty; Best All-Round Student - Mark Vince; Unsung Hero - Chris Green. Yvonne Catty pre- sented the Valedictory add- ress for the occasion. Con- gratulations to all the young people and best wishes to you as you enter High School. Weekend guests of Mr. and Mrs. Tom Horton and family were Mr. and Mrs. Bill Hor- ton, Mr. and Mrs. Tom Horton and Mr. and Mrs. Jack Horton, all of St. Williams, Ontario. , Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Lar- mer and Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Larmer attended Cambray United Church service on Sunday morning when a Stained Glass window was dedicated in the memory of the Elford family. ! Promotion Sunday was held in the United Church unday School. Each section f the Sunday School pre- sented numbers for the pro- gram. Superintendents Ruby Parsons and Gordon Paisley read out the lists while the teachers presented the Pro- motion Certificates. Parents - please note that there will Je no Sunday School until ptember. Church Vacation School will be held from July 14-18 from 1-3 p.m. All boys and girls 3 to 12 years of age are welcome. The O.N.O. sponsored swimming program will be- gin Monday July 7. All reg- istered children be sure to be' at Blackstock High School at 8:15 SHARP for bus trans- portation to Uxbridge. Miss Lorna Wright spent some time with her parents Mr. and Mrs. Walter Wright enroute from London, Eng- land to Indonesia where she will be teaching for the next two years. Sincere sympathy is extended to Mr. and Mrs. Larry Kendall, Jill and Mark in the recent bereavement of their father and grandfather, Mr. Frank Kendall. Visitors with Mr. and Mrs. Charles Cottyn are his brother, Mr. Goerge Cottyn of Victoria, B.C., and his cousins, Mr. and Mrs. DeCock and son Mark and friend from Belgium. All were dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Kerry on Friday evening. Mrs. Ray MacDonald has returned from an enjoyable three week visit with relat- ives in British Columbia. Mrs. Mel Hodgson of Oshawa spent the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Bailey. Other Sunday visitors with the Baileys were her other sisters, Mrs. Howard Forsythe of Good- wood and Mrs. Laura Tucker of Peterborough. Mr. and Mrs. George Har- per attended the Memorial Service at Zion on Sunday. We are pleased that Mrs. Earl Fielding is convalescing at her home after a stay in Port Perry hospital. Mr. and Mrs. Jim Fielding of Keswick were visitors with his parents on Tuesday. Mrs. Wally Scott of London spent a few days with Mrs. Jack Crosier last week and called on Mr. and Mrs. Frank Vernon on Wednesday evening. Mrs. James E. Mitchell spent a few days with Mr. and Mrs. Milt Parkin of Brooklin and the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. Ivan Gray of Port Perry. Mr. and Mrs. Tom Arm- strong and children were at Balsam Lake for the weekend. Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Thompson visited her mother, Mrs. jim Miller of Mount Albert on Tuesday. Prize winners at the euchre in the hall on Friday evening were: Erma Watson, Bessie McCullough and K. Crosier; Tina Ruhl, Gary Munro and Oliver Lane.
