A capacity crowd was in attendance for the present- ation of the various awards and speeches. with the high- light of the evening being the Rookie of the Year and the Most Valuable Player awards. Barry was drafted by London -Knights of the Major Junior CAT. There willbe at least one new entry in the Junior "C» League next season with the addition of Stouffville to the group. There is still the possibility of two more teams entering the league. Lumbermen Ballard '"'Lumbermen"' dropped their second con- secutive home game, and dropped to sixth place in the Oshawa City and District Softball League. Foley Plumbing handed the Lumbermen a 4-1 lose at the local ballpark last Thurs- day night in an exciting hard fought contest. Don Woermke out-pitched - Ken Goreski to pick up the victory and allowed the Port Perry team only five hits while claiming six strike- outs. Ken Goreski allowed Foley Plumbing only seven hits and had five strike-outs. Foley Plumbing took a one run lead in the top of the first inning on a single by Paul Richards and a walk-to Garry Rowbotham.. Ken Goreski, then made a throw error on a hard ground ball by Warren McGahey to bring in the first run. Track and Field held at the Civic Fields on Tuesday, May 27. Some outstanding perfor- mances by the Port Perry athletes were: N Debbie Lee placed 2nd in Senior Girls 100 metres (12.8), 1st in 200 metres (26.8), 1st. in 400 metres (61.3). 200 metres Midget Boys - Mike Hamilton, second (24.6) 400 metres Junior Boys - Sean Taylor, 1st (52.1) school record. 400 metres Senior Boys - "Mark Jobb, 3rd (54.8). 1500 metres Midget Boys - "Marten Kuypers, 5th (4.44.3). The Oshawa team will be compet- ing in the Senior Elimination Tournament to be held in Niagara Falls at the end of the month. This should be an exciting exhibition game. Another big attraction for the local softball fans will be the annual Oshawa City and Dis- trict League All-Star game will will be played in Port Perry against the current Canadian Softball Cham- pions, the Oshawa Tony's.
