Boundey, Port Perry. . On Tuesday late afternoon "a fire raged in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Danny Corby and did considerable dam- age. The back part was entirely burned and the roof of the main portion of the house badly damaged, in addition smoke and water damage was extensive in the remaining part. The com- munity is very sorry for this young couple in their loss. Several from the commun- ity attended the Open House held in Oshawa by a new dentist, Dr. Larry Hurrans on Sunday. Larry has opened an office on Simcoe Street North. This event is of inter- est to many of the area as Mrs. Hurrans is the former Kay Porrill. Also of interest is the fact that Dr. Hurran's office nurse is Mrs. Dorothy Marlow of Blackstock. Mr. and Mrs. Ron David- ~ son of Oshawa were Sunday evening dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Ray Essery. About 38 girls and eight leaders along with interested mothers and grandmothers attended Achievement Day in Grandview Public School for the recently completed 4-H unit, A Touch of Stitch- ery. All four clubs from Blackstock displayed exhibits. During the day's progrgm County Honours -were presented to girls who have completed six units. Local girls who received this honour were Katie Schmidt, Laurel Vine, Michael Robin- son and Lois VanCamp. Cheryl Wright was the local girl who received County Honours for the completion of twelve projects. Congrat- ulations girls. It was an- nounced that the project for next fall will be "Let's Bake Bread".
