We had many families and friends visiting and the Salvation Army arrived in the evening for a church service. A 1972 Pinto driven by Evelyn Muller, of 65 Forest Manor Rd., Willowdale was southbound on Hwy. 12 just - north of Myrtle. The vehicle went out of control on the icy road andslidinto the path of a northbound pick-up truck. A passenger in the Muller vehicle, Frank Muller, age 13, a son of the driver died in the accident. The accident is being investigated by Const. Bob Crosier of Whitby Detach- ment. The coroner was Dr. R. C. Allin of Port Perry, Ontario. No charges have been laid, and an inquest is pending the completion of the invest- igation. Mrs. Muller was taken to Port Perry Community Memorial Hospital, where her condition was reported stable, Tuesday morning. She received multiple fractures in the accident. Local Labrador wins second place A six-year-old Black Lab- rador retriever owned by Jim Green of Greenbank cap- tured the second top place in the indoor retrieval trials at the Sportsman Show in Toronto recently. One of two labs owned by the Greens, Greenvale-Black of Drambuie captured the - second place position after progressing from a divisional win in the 10-day competit- ion, then moving up to the finals. The competition included dogs from all over the pro- vince and some from the United States. The competit-' ion is invitational, and was a "working dog" event. It's not the first victory for "Black". The dog earned the field trial championship last summer, and was one of seven finalists in the Cana- dian Nationals this winter, that included many top dogs from as far away as, British Columbia and Newfound- land. After the christening, the Kerry children, Paul, Donna, Mark and Glen sang. Miss Beth Underhill also favoured us with a beautiful solo. The service ended with all partaking of the Lords Supper. After the service, the, Ashton, Asling: and Strong families enjoyed a luncheon in the Sunday School rooms and enjoyed a family reunion. However, the judges opinions were different. The winner was a student from Elliott Lake. Speakers came from various places in Ontario and the winners in the four different categories were named Ontario Champions. The three runners-up did not receive placings, but all of them received a silver medal while the winner received a gold medal. Cedar Creek news Mr. and Mrs. John den Boer visited their son, Martin for a few days last week in the Washington, U.S.A. area. David den Boer was home from Toronto while his parents were away. Sympathy is extended to Mrs. Wm. Armstrong and family on the sudden death of her brother, Wayne Kerr. He was killed in an accident near Campbellford.
