EE RT PE ES EO Three ties, a win Canadian Tire Bantams started their playoff series in Newcastle, March 3 with a very exciling game which ended in a 00 tie after overtime. It was a close checking hard hitting game with excellent goaltending for both teams. D. Nicholson in net for Newcastle and Jim Treen in net for Port. The second game, March 5, was played in Port Perry with another tie 3-3 after overtime. The first goal for Port was scored by Bryan Meyers assisted by Rob Parker. Newcastle came back and tied it up a minute later on a goal by Philip Dost. assisted by Mark Berney. Port Perry's second goal was a nice play by Ron Ashmore assisted by Stephen Geer. Half way through the third period Newecastle's Philip Dost tied the game again with an assist from Doug Nicholson. Again we went into another overtime period with Port's Carry Fellows scoring with Danny Taylor and Robert Baird drawing assists. A minute and 28 seconds later, Philip Dost got his hat trick which tied up the game. March 10, Port travelled to Newcastle where they play- ed to a 2 all tie after over- time. Port Perry opened up the scoring with a nice goal by Jay Adam assisted by Carry Fellows. Newcastle's Mark Berney tied the game at the 5:45 minute mark, Again both teams had excel- lent goaltending. Jim Treen minding the .nets for Port Perry. The Canadian Tire Ban- tams played their fourth game in Port Perry on March 12. Port opened the scoring and kept the lead all through the game ending in a 4-2 victory. The first goal was scored in the first period by Rick Hope with a slapshot from the point assisted by Adams and Fellows. New- castle retaliated in the second period with a goal by Philip Dost assisted by Donald Rowley. Port Perry scored two in the second period. The first one by George Lindsay assisting were Parker and Baird, the second from Greg Fedyk with assists from Adams and Fellows, making the score 3-1. But Newcastle came back at the 10:27 mark of the period with a goal by Donald Rowley assisted. by Mark Berney and Tom Dwyer. Only. one goal was scored in the third period. ° Port Perry's Robert Baird put one by the Newcastle goalie un- assisted. Again Jim Treen was very steady in goal. 'Bantams strong in playoffs Coach Doug Scott did a great job juggling his defensemen around because of injuries to Danny Taylor and Bryan Myers. Keep up the good work boys and good luck in the rest of your series. House League. PEE WEE Wes. Lane downed Glen Vallie Sod 4-1. Ausman, Mikkelson, Lang and Kraupa scored for Wes Lane with Healey and O'Donnell pick- ing up two assists and Butler picked up a single assist. Jeffery scored the only goal for Glen Vallie. Bolton Carpentry defeated Frank Real Estate 5-3. Scoring for Bolton were Gribben, Nippard, Williams, Aldred and Maebrae all with singles. Kroonenburg scored twice for Frank with Gould scoring a single. Frank Real Estate belted Bolton Carpentry with a 9-4 loss. Gould lead the Frank team scoring five, with Fellows right on his tail scoring four. Scoring for Bolton was Johnson with two with Fulford and Strong scoring singles.
