& J 9 ® ® oo L 3 Blackstock Agricultural Society _ John Walters elected new presiden The slow but steady growth of the Blackstock Fair was forecast by Blackstock Agri- cultural Society president (#74), Vernon Asselstine, at the society's annual meeting Thursday in- Blackstock. Mr. Asselstine said grad- ual progression rather than too big a stride is the way to proceed in planning for such fairs, and has proved the best way in the past. Speaking on his own pre- sidency, he told the some 50 members on hand that "being president isn't as bad as it seems when you are thinking about it." The job, he said, was made much easier by the co-oper- ation he received from the community. The financial report pre- sented at the meeting showed the society with a healthy $4,052 balance, the difference between $14,157.53 in receipts and expenditures of $10,104.93. ' Other business included the authorizing of three voting delegates of the society to attend a convent- ion of societies February 19 and 20. The delegates will be chosen later. The election of officers included the same slate of directors as the previous year, and the executive moving a step up, Mr. Assel- stine becoming the immed- iate past president. Former vice-president, John Walters takes his chair, while Lawrence McLaughlin moves from second to first vicepresident. Second vice- president is Jim Byers.
