PORT PERRY STAR -- Wednesday, Jan. 29, 1975 -- 21 PeeWees win consolation trophy Saturday, January 25, the Legion Pee Wee's lost their first game to Lindsay by a narrow 2 to 1 margin. They came back to win the next two games 2 to 1 over Peterborough and 5 to 2 over Nobleton to win the Consol- ation trophy. Lindsay won the- Championship trophy and their big number two on defense won the Joe Fowler Memorial Trophy and a cash award for being picked the most valuable player of the. day. Port were out hustled by Lindsay in the first game, however, the winning goal was not the kind you like to be beaten by. A shot from near centre ice rebounded off the boards and deflected off Frannsens skate into the corner of the net. The second game against Peterborough was a closely fought battle that could have gone either way. Myers made several good saves and the team overall played well. The Brown-Burnett-Potts line took the starch out of Nobleton early in the third game with two quick goals. Port added a third to take a three goal lead and then seemed content to just skate as hard as they had to. The tempo of the game slackened off and the teams exchanged two goals each for a final score of 5 to 2. Burnett was the top points getter for the day with one goal and three assists. Other goal scorers were Wilbur 3, Brown 2, Kane and Tobin 1 each. picking up assists were Menzies with 3, Robin- son and Potts two each, Sandison and Durward one each. Flami Port Perry Flamingo Pas- tries Juniors moved into sole possession of first place in the Central Ontario Junior "C" Hockey League by vir- tue of two wins in three games this last week. On Tuesday night, the local Club travelled to Port Hope and edged the Pan- thers 3-2 in an exciting if not impressive game. The Flamingos played two good periods to take. a one goal lead into the final frame, but needed some sensational goaltending from Wayne Cordingly to preserve the win, as the Panthers had 21 shots in the third period. The Lindsay Trent-Mus- kies moved into a temporary tie for first place as they defeated the Port Perry club 5-1 in Lindsay Friday night.
