A tender of $9,793 for the collection of garbage in the lakeshore area of Ward IV (Caesarea to View Beach) was accepted from T. Puck- rin and Son Ltd., Waste Disposal of Whitby, a tender well below $22,320 high tend- er of the eight submitted to council Monday night. The contract will run from January 20 to January 16 of next year, and payment will be submitted on a weekly basis. Council also hired Ann Barrett as full-time animal control officer for the town- ship, subject her entering into an agreement with the Township of Scugog and Uxbridge. Payment for the job would include $9,000 an- nually from the Townships plus $2,000 set aside for the hiring of an assistant. The job is offered on a 24-hour on-call basis. A dog owner will pay $5.00 .|. hire dog catcher for his neutered animal, $7.00 for a male and $10.00 for a female dog. An .additional surcharge of $5.00 per dog for each dog in addition to one for each household will also be char- ged. There will also be an_ additional charge for dog licences sold door-to-door after March 31. A licence of $25.00 is also charged the owner or oper- ator of a kennel of purebred dogs which are registered with the National Kennel Club. Unlicenced dogs found running at large will be impounded in the animal shelter for a period of not less than five days. After that, they become the pro- perty of the Township and will be humanly disposed of, according to the township bylaw. You can get your dog back from the pound for $10.00 the first time, $20.00 the sub- sequent time. A boarding fee of $2.50 a day up to five days will also be charged.
