Taylor of Enniskillen along with Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Slemon, Susan and Fred. Bryan Sleep underwent emergency surgery in Osh- awa Hospital last week for a collapsed lung. His many friends from High School and elsewhere wish you a fast recovery. Mr. Alex Flett of Fenelon IFalls was a weekend guest of Mr. and Mrs. Ed Harris. The reception and wedding dance was held at Utica Hall. A bus load attended the lovely Christmas party on Thursday evening given by Mr. and Mrs. Allan Lawrence, M.P. at the Leg- ion Hall in Port Hope. All reported a delightful evening of dancing with a delicious salad buffet. Mr. Wilbert Werry is still a patient in Port Perry Hos- pital. Mrs. Frank Bailey is under doctor's care and is under- going lests in Toronto. We hope these two residents soon enjoy better health. Several from Blackstock attended the live presentat- ion of Treasure Island at McLaughlin Collegiate on Sunday afternoon. Several from here attend- ed the Curling Dance at Port Perry on Saturday evening and report a most enjoyable evening. On Saturday twelve 80- year-olds and over held a birthday party for Mrs. Helen Beacock to honour her when she joined this select club. Happy birthday, Mrs. Beacock. Mr. and Mrs. Bill Mahaffy visited Mr. and Mrs. Tom Mahaffy and family near Oshawa last Sunday. A fine congregation was present for the annual White Gift Service at the United Church on Sunday morning. Two fine anthems by the Senior Choir and a beautiful solo by Miss Alice Ann Carnaghan added greatly to the worship service. Rev. V. Parsons preached a most timely sermon on "The Gift of Myrrh" after the many children had brought their gifts to place under the decorated Christmas tree. Sm Va Vag) Te MX v, Tm Poe a PORT PERRY WOMAN ENTERS WINNING DOLL. The Little Bo Peep in the middle was the prize winning nursery rhyme character doll in Montreal Trust's annual Doll contest for the Toronto area on December 2nd. Mrs. Jean Rose of North Street, Port Perry designed and made this beautiful Bo Peep costume to compete with 400 other dolls. Montreal Trust branch offices supplied the dolls and interested and talented women took them home and dressed them. The dolls will be given to less fortunate children through charitable organizations in time for Santa's visit. All eight dolls will be entered in Montreal Trust's National Doll Contest on December 13th. In the background, the judges, Stacia Evasuk, Fashion Editor of the Toronto Star and Nancy Shuster, Assistant Buyer at Holt Renfrew receive gifts of appreciation from Brian O'Malley, Assistant Vice-President, Ontario Region for Montreal Trust.
