Mr. and Mrs. Bill Mahaffy visited Mr. and Mrs. Tom Mahaffy and family near Oshawa last Sunday. A fine congregation was present for the annual White Gift Service at the United Church on Sunday morning. Two fine anthems by the Senior Choir and a beautiful solo by Miss Alice Ann Carnaghan added greatly to the worship service. Rev. V. Parsons preached a most timely sermon on "The Gift of Myrrh" after the many children had brought their gifts to place under the decorated Christmas tree. The Little Bo Peep in the middle was the prize winning nursery rhyme character doll in Montreal Trust's annual Doll contest for the Toronto area on December 2nd. Mrs. Jean Rose of North Street, Port Perry designed and made this beautiful Bo Peep costume to compete with 400 other dolls. Montreal Trust branch offices supplied the dolls and interested and talented women took them home and dressed them. The dolls will be given to less fortunate children through charitable organizations in time for Santa's visit. All eight dolls will be entered in Montreal Trust's National Doll Contest on December 13th.
