8 { i Se. A 2 8 Starting from where we left off last week we can- report that the U.C.W. luncheon was quite success- ful with a good attendance and plenty to eat. Mrs. Len Somerville won the crochet shawl and Mrs. Desautels the doilie. Now for .our sick news. Those reported last week are still in hospital. "Both Ber- .nard Standish and Mrs. Jas, Durward are slowly improv- ing in Oshawa and Mrs. Clara Sleep remains about the same at the local hés- pital. Two ladies from Har- pers Corners entered this week. they are Mrs. Roy Harper and Mrs. Carrie Haugh, We wish them well and suggest they had better improve soon with a wedding in .the family coming this week end. On Wednesday evening, Mrs. Roy Harper enter- tained at a shower for Miss Darlene Caldwell who will become Ricky Payne's bride on Saturday. Mr. and Mrs: Les Third spent a few days last week with Mr.and Mrs. Jas. Tay- lor and Patsy at Lake Kash- agawigamog. Only a short distance away were the Clifford Shorts who visited Mr. and Mrs. Doug Hamilton in Sunderland and the Belairs who went to see the Robert Taylor famngily on Scugog Island on Sunday. Visiting in the" commun- ity were Mr. and Mrs. Rowan of Bethany with their daughter Mrs. Ken Sturman. They also attended the in- stallation of officers for Warriner Lodge in Port Perry on Saturday. Young Shane Coxworth of Uxbridge was a week end" guest at the Tobins while his parénts were off on a trip. The B. Wanamakers had son Bill and his wife from Toronto over Sunday. Believe it or not we have 2 church caretakers now. Mrs. Bruce Carr has agreed to do the 'inside work while Bill Keen will tend to the outside and do any mechanical jobs. Communion was dispensed. on day morning by Rev. Roundell' aided by Clifford Short and Mrs. Reta Boe S.S. was as usual. Young Leo Beacock had his few birth- + News from Seagrave and area day pennies and two other young . golfers thought it would be nice to do the same thing. At a S.S. meeting a week ago it was decided that the Christmas tree and concert would be held on Dec. 13 and the white Gift Service would probably take place on December 8. U.C.W. ladies -- don't Kenny not happy with Ratepayers Coun. Bob Kenny doesn't like somebody looking over his shoulder all the time and really doesn't like answering 'questions about what council has done. These were two of the remarks Mr. Kenny made when council was discussing an invitation from the Scu- gog Ratepayers' Association to attend its fall meeting on this years taxes. At time of writing it is not known how much money was raised. After' lunch annual Bike Rodeo was held. Winners were for Senior Cubs. Tommy Walsh got 100 points out of 120. Junior winner was Mark Bouwm- eester, 95 out of 120. Mark received the CTC trophy and Tommy the Smits Cycle Trophy.
