Township revises development charges A revised table of develop- ment charges has been approved by Scugog town- ship council. , These are charges the township impose whenever a new residential unit is crea- ted. They are to cover costs of services such as sewers and water. Units can be created by a plan of subdi- vision of rezoning or by a severances. Prior to the establish- ment of the region, only Port Perry had a comprehensive velopment. Cartwright, Reach and Scygog townships had only linNted charges. But when the region came into effect it took over re- sponsibility for sewage col- lection and treatment and water supply and establish- ed its own schedule of charges. Because of these changes, Port Perry's charges had to be revised. Formerly they ranged from $750 to $1,700. But under the newly approved schedule the char- $1.000.
