His scholarly background will be a welcome asset to the Uxbridge-Port Perry community. Father Mickers is being replaced in Pendle- ton by Father Herman Falke, S.C.J., formerly of Uxbridge and Uganda, Africa. Father Falke will also be chaplain and art teacher at Immaculata High School in Ottawa. Father Peter Botman was born September 23, 1930, and ordained priest on July 19, 1959. For the past five years he has been working with the Catholic Children's Aid Society of Metropolitan Toronto while living at St. Joan of Arc Parish in Tor- onto. His chief contribution to the parish was the famous St. Joan of Arc Folk Choir which he managed. Under his direction the choir cut two LP albums of church music. After his ordination Father Botman was appointed to Neil McNeil Boys Residence in Toronto for some time. He finished his M.A. in sociology at the University of Detroit and was appointed Dean of Men at Sacred Heart Seminary, Delaware, Ontario. From 66 to 69 he was the recruiter for that institution. We suspect that it will not take too long before Father Botman has several Folk Choirs going strong in the Uxbridge Port Perry communities. Fleming, horticulturist with the . Ontario Ministry of Agriculture and Food. The roots of foundation ever- greens, pine, spruce, cedar, juniper, yew, and other needle evergreens will be able to supply sufficient moisture to the trees during the winter if the soil around the bases is moistened to a. good depth just before the ground hardens. Other .trees and shrubs should be given less frequent waterings. Their need for moisture is usally met by fall rains, and overwatering encourages late soft growth that can be injured or killed 'by early winter weather.
