Sept. 5th the Manches- ter United Church Women's met at the home of Mrs. Fred Lamb. Gwen opened the meeting by reading a hymn followed by the Lord's prayer in Unison. Mary . Thompson read the scripture and Gwen gave the topic a word of courage and a reading titled "Rules for School Teachers in 1915 and Viola Johnson gave a recita- tion, "Somebody's Mother" which we all ejoyed. The minutes were read and adopted. Plans for the Rummage Sale Sept. 28 were made and carried. More cook books were sold. Cor- respondence and thank you's were given and the treas- urer's report good. A musi- cal evening is being planned for November with intermis- sion draws. Birthday money turned in. The next meeting at Mrs. Dorothy Airds, Oct. 3. The meeting closed with the Miz- path Benediction and a del- icious lunch served. Honeydale Women begin fall season The Honeydale Branch, Women's Institute opened the Fall season with a meet- ing on Septmeber 5th in the Municipal Auditorium. The president Mrs. Doro- thy Naples was in the chair and welcomed the members back from summer vaca- tions and hapes all are ready for the programme arranged for the year ahead. he theme of the meeting was "Buy, Think and Live Canadian." The roll call was answered by naming an article purchased because of advertising. The answers were varied and interesting. During the business part of the meeting the president thanked Mrs. Ina DeYonge and her helpers for the splendid display they put into the Port Perry Fair and it was decided to put on an Art Show in Latcham Centre on September 20. This will be a showing of paintings, done by our own Audrey Kent. Tea will be served and we hope "the public of Port Perry will attend. The meeting was then Cedar Creek News Mr. and Mrs. Rick Laroc- que and sons spent last week- end with the Farrow family at South River. Mr. and Mrs. John Have- naar of Holland were visiting Mr. and Mrs. John den Boer last week. Mrs. Havenaar is Mrs. den Boer's sister. On Thursday they all went to Niagara Falls and on Friday visited cousins at Holland Landing. Mr. Havenaar has greenhouse and raises hot house tomatoes. While at Holland Landing he visited some greenhouses. Mr. and Mrs. Victor Laroc- que accompanied Mr. and Mrs. Grant Beacock to Toronto on Thursday. They visited Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Trepanier and the Beacocks visited Grant's uncle, Lloyd Beacock, who is in hospital in Toronto. Martin den Boer, who attends Maryland Univer- sity is home for a holiday. David den Boer was home from Toronto for the week- end. On Saturday Mrs. den Boer's brother Engelbert Knibble and his wife of Battle Creek, Michigan arrived for the weekend. They took Mr. and Mrs. Havenaar back with them for a visit with relatives in Michigan.
