Last week we had weddings to report and this time family gatherings seem to top the list. A most interesting gather- ing. involving 4 generations took place at the home of Mr.a nd Mrs. Ted Jansen who now occupy the former rave an MIDDLETON'S QUEEN ST. - PORT PERRY - 985-2562 Wilbur Couch farm. Mr. Jansen's grandmother, a spry and vouthful 80 yr. old, her daughter, her grand- daughter and her 6 year old great grandson arrived last week from Copenhagen, Denmark for a 3 weeks vacation. With the senior Jansens from Toronto and other relatives, they made a ask about our HOME FOOD-FREEZER PLAN f a plan to fit everyones budget large and happy crowd. On Saturday evening anot- her family party took place near Janetville at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Bert Third. Also on Saturday Mr. and Mrs. Venner had a party here in Seagrave lo cele- brate their 45th wedding anniversary which actually ame a few days earlier. There were about 50 guests including their own family and relatives from Bowman- ville, Hampton, Niagara Falls, Mississagua, Owen Sound and Omemee. A re-union still to come will be taking place at the Zolitz home when Herb's brother arrives from Ger- many in a few days. Everyone asks "Have you heard how Roy Scott is?" Reports are that he is still doing well. Young Yancy Crosier suf- fering from burned feet had a spell in hospital last week. We have only a few visiting reports this week but Mr. and Mrs. John Tobin are still entertaining. Their guests on Saturday night were Mrs. Marjorie Moon, Clifford Moon and Ken and Gail Knight of Port Perry, and on Sunday Mr. and Mrs. Frank Tobin and family came from Blackstock. Mrs. Bessie Fishley is visiting son Jim and his family in Oshawa this week. On Sunday, the Belairs called on Mr. and Mrs. Earl Bryant of Port Perry who took off on Monday for their annual trip to the West. The Wanamakers did it again. On Sunday, they en- tertained Mr. and Mrs. Vie Mason. and Mr. and Mrs. Phil Mason of Toronto, Mr. and Mrs. Willoughby and Mrs. Hollingshead from King City. Mr. and Mrs. Kawartha Theatre opens 1974 season The Kawartha Summer Theatre's 1974 season pre- viewed on election day with its first production, "No Sex Please We're British." The leading role is being Ralph Reynolds from town and their own 3 sons,. their wives and the 6 grandchil- dren. Lynda and Mary Lee Wanamaker from Oshawa remained for a week's holi- day. To an old-timer it was a nice change to see the pic- tures and also the lists of this vear's honour students at Port Perry High. We haven't had much news along that line in late years so now we at least know in which grade the kids are working. We congratulate Darrel and Debbie Newman, Dianne 'Howell and Tami Harper on their successes. The church session made no mistake when they asked Mr. David Sinclair of Port Perry to help out with an address at their annual church service. The com- ments heard were all good. Session members were in charge this week with Keith Puckrin leading the worship. Mrs. Boe and Clifford Short the scripture and prayer. Bruce Carr the musie. (a: solo) and the Veterans Mrs. Clements and Bill Keen look- ing after the offering. Next Sunday Rev. Roun- dell will be here. Mr. Evans will have the service on July 21. then Mr. Roundell on July 28. After that nothing for a month. played by Karen Hamilton. Miss Hamilton took over the role when the summer theatre's leading lady, Mar- garet Bard, was involved in a car accident in Hope, B.C. a week before rehearsal commenced. Karen Hamilton is a Toronto actress recently re- turned to Canada from grad- uationg with honours at the Roval Academy of Dramatic Arts in London. The play is being directed by Araby Lockhart of Toronto, set design is by Earl Steiler of University of Waterloo. Three other actors have joined the company. Joan Panton of Winnipeg, one of the most popular actresses ever to work in Lindsay will plav one of the sisters in "Arsenic and Old Lace." She will also play the wife in "Prisoner of Second Ave- nue." Richard Farrell re- turns to play Dr. Einstein in "Arsenic" and Ross Skelton is with the company for its first production. Mr. Skelton, from Toronto, has been working in New York for the past few years and has just returned to Canada. Leading actor of the sum- mer is Jack Northmore, the fegular: company includes . 'Robert Haley of White Rock, B.C. John Hamelin of Ottawa and Davina Turvey of London, Ontario. Monday. July 8th for a preview at Haliburton High- lands then the formal opening of the season was at the Academy Theatre in Lindsay, Tuesday, July 9th.
