The choir is happy to have two ministers, Mr. Parsons of Blackstock who sang "Squid Jiggin' Song", and Mr. Bigby of Enniskil- len, who sang, "The Golden City." The huge picture frame on the stage was the set- ting for several songs, the ~¢heme being held as a tab- leau, from "The Bicycle Built for Two" to "Two Little Girls in Blue" - two Debbies, one Ireland and one Menzies, 'Alice Blue Gown', Myrtle Snelgrove and Katherine Watson, Ii "Easter Parade", Winni- | fred Causley, "Oh You | Beautiful Doll", to a lovely ~wolo by Norman Watson, sung to Norene Thornton, "Jeannine I Dream of Lilac | And who but the Histori- cal Society Choir would have a song about "A Bird |. in a Guilded Cage" com- I plete with a bird in a cage who actually sang. Albert Harper's song "Keep Fit" i salso had a lady keeping fit, and the identity of this lady is still being discussed. | . "The Old Lamplighter" was a charming scene, complete with lamps, park bench with a couple and the old lamplighter. The evening ended with songs by the whole' Choir. On thinking about it I'm convinced that the Choir enjoyed the evening as / much as the audience. Per- i haps that is the secret of nostalgia - it is a participa- tion thing. In Victorian times everyone took part in the entertainments. They all deserve a great 'deal A credit, and judging by the comments of the large audience in the R.H. Cornish Public School audi- torium, it was all very much worth while.
