* First fall meeting of W.I. by Mabel Cawker On Thursday afternoon, Sept. 6th, the Honeydale Branch met in the Municipal Hall for the first fall meet- ing, with a fine attendance. Mrs. Thos. Bell presided and conducted the opening exer- cises in regular form with the singing of the Ode, Mrs. Lloyd Hunter at the piano. Members . answered the Roll call with the name of a favourite dessert, made from a Canadian product. The Bazaar in June being So successful, a motion was passed that the Branch hold a Bazaar or some such project, next Spring, -- a little earlier if feasible. Members are planning to entertain the residents of the Community Nursing Home sometime later in the fall. As many as possible try to attend as this gives Branch members a real insight into Women's Institute work. The report of Port Perry Fair display was given by Mrs. C. DeYonge. Mrs. Gordon Shunk, Convener of Agr. and Can- adian Industries took the chair for the programme and spoke briefly on the Motto -- "The World Is My Country; -- Mankind is my Friend." An interesting reading given by Mrs. Wm. Chapman was enjoyed. A colorful arm chair trip completed the programme. Mrs. John Phillips took members on a tour of New Zealand and Australia depicting the many inter- esting features of these two countires.
