VanCamp contractors will be playing in the Oshawa City and District League with Cobourg, Greenwood Int's, Port Perry Ballards and Oshawa Juniors, Coach Mac McMillan has the team working out and all boys under 21 years (before Jan. 1st) are wel- come to come out. If there are enough players want- 'ing to play, a Juvenile - Midget team could be form- ed. The 'Bantam's will be working out this week with coaches Harry Powell and Gene Hurst. This club will play in the York - Ont. Lea- gue, with Markham, Stouff- "Ughmonvile Richmond Hi d Aurora. The PeeWee 1.G.A. team will also be in the York - Ont. League with Coach Don Hurst and Manager Doug Scott. They will start May 22nd. The Legion Squirts are also entered in this Lea- gue. All Squirt age boys (under 11) will work out each Tues. and Thursday. Coaches are needed for this age group. A Softball Skill School to be held on Thurs., May 10th, 6:30 p.m. at the Lake- front Park. All young boys and girls are welcome. These schools are held throughout Ontario by the O.A.S. A. Chairman Vin Walker has conducted these schools for two years in centres such as Burlington, Ohawa, St. Catharines, Sim- coe, Brantford, Vanessa, Etobicoke, Downsview, Pet- erboro and Norwood. Schools will' be held on May 13th in Ottawa at the Cana dian Forces Base and on May 14th at the Kingston Canadian Forces Base... . These boys will start on May 14 at the Lakefront Park. They will play one night each week. There is a lot of Young girls wanting to play also. If coaches come forth to look after these young girls a Bantam series will be run. Once again we ask for helpers in all age groups. After Grace was said by Presi- dent, Richard VanCamp, over 100 men and lady curlers and their spouses sat down to a delicious chicken dinner provided by the Blackstock "U.C.W. During dinner, Mr. and Mrs. George Boehm, Caesarea provided delightfyl dinner music. Roy. Bradburn expressed the customary appreciation to the. catering group, Glenn Larmer voiced the apprecia- tion to Mr. and Mrs. Boehm who provided musical num- bers interspersed throughout the evening's programme. Roy McLaughlin, Secretary read minutes of various meetings and presented the new slate of officers as follows: Past President Richard Van Camp, President Jim Gray; Vice President, Glenn Larmer; Schedule Manager Jim Byers; Sec. Treas Roy McLaughlin; Executive- Committee Roy Bradburn, John Coates, Ernie Swain. At this point the business was turned over to president of the: Ladies Curling Club Joyce Kelly who expressed the Ladies' appreciation to the Men's Club for all the assistance throughout the year. Norma VanCamp was thanked for her services as baby-sitter and Bruce Mountjoy for his help as the caretaker. The girls pre- sented Bruce with a gift in appreciation of his extra duties on their behalf. Elaine Bajley, schedule manager gave the results of the games we played. Elaine's team consisting of Annie Leeé,Mary DeMer- chant and Millie Davies won top prize and were given small gifts. Merlin Suggitt presented the Bonspiel Trophy to Glenn Larmer, Bob Fleicher, Tom Dean. Jim Jamieson, a member of this team was absent. Jim Byers, Schedule manager read the results of the winter's play. Jim Gray presented the Club Trophy and prizes to the First Place Team consisting of Keith Van- Camp, George Bryant, Neil McLaughlin and Murray Byers. Glen Larmer presented second place. prizes to Gerald Kelly who was the only member of Tom Gor- don's rink. Other members were Harold Medd and Wayne Horton. Jim Byers presented third place prize to Glenn Larmer, Tom Dean and Bob Fletcher. Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Mountjoy showed lovely slides of their récent trip to Ireland. Richard expressed his appreciation to Jean and Bruce. The evening conclu- ded with dancing provided by Mr. and Mrs. George Boehm. During the evening draws were made for chickens.
