Glen McCoy lead the goal scoring parade with five, while line mate Dave Bour- eois had a pair and singles went to Paul Kane and Garry Elliott whohas returned tothe forward line and played a strong game going both ways. This victory moves the Flamingos into sixth place in the league, and should enhance their playoff chances. At this time it is not known who will be the Flamingos oppostion in the first round of the play-offs. A flashback to the roaring fifties drew about 500 people to Port Perry High School's annual winter carnival last week for what student council Penny Dawson President Penny Dawson described as "Maybe our best carnival yet."" Student Ross Carter, who was responsible for the carnival's organiza- tion explained, "we tried to run it on a theme this year to make it more interesting." The carnival featured all the popular activities of the 50s, even a 'battle of the bands' which saw Bill Van Camp dressed like Elvis singing with his band The Tuned Exhaust. The lack of snow was no problem. Ross Carter said that the carnival was delib- erately planned so it could go with or without snow. For example, bothabicycleand a snowmobile race was planned. The snowmobile eventhadtobe postponed, but nottherest of the events. "We tried to stress mass enter- tainment and mass partici- pation' says Ross Carter. One of the main features of theday was a chariot race. To add excitement chariot dri- vers carried eggs as ammun- ition, but as it turned out the audience had more eggs than the contestants. Students described the scene as a bit messy, but fun. Girls were not allowed! to enter the carnival queen contest. Instead, boy students dressed up in girls clothing paraded for judges. Mark Job is this year's queen. Another popular event was a basketball game between the grade thirteen class and the teachers. 'Naturally we defeated the teachers" bragged Ross Carter. '"The referees cheated for the students" confined Penny Dawson. No one is sure how many baskets were scored. '"'We beat them so badly we lost track of the score' Ross says. As far as 18 year old Penny Dawson is concerned the all night dance was the most exciting part of the whole day. ALL EVENTS ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE AS WEATHER PERMITS.
