This meant 3 alternate shots had to be taken by both teams. Tod Wilbur, Geo. Burnett and Chas. Brown scored for Port Perry, while due to a _greal save by the Port goaltender, Robert Frans- sen, Uxbridge only managed to score one, ending the game with a 7 - 5 victory for Port Perry. In the second game, against the Oshawa Minors, Port Perry took an early lead to win the game 4 - 1, and a chance to try for the championship. During the championship game against West Rouge, with the score being 2 - 2 late in the game the Port boys once again came. through with a splenditl performance by Greg Tully as he went around the West Rouge defence, and drawing the ~ goal tender from the net- scored. . The game ended with Port Perry winning the champ- ionship by a score of 3 - 2. "The local Novice team is sponsored by Malmont Farm. Juveniles overpower Newcastle, tie Stouffville 3-3 on home ice On January 4, Grieve's Gulf Juveniles travelled to Newcastle and displaying both a fine defensive and offensive effort and came home the victors by bombing Newcastle 9 - 2. This being their first game since December 17th, the boys started out a little shakey but after a couple of close calls around the Port net the boys settled down to serious hockey. With some fine checking Port gained controll of the puck in Newcastle's end and Bob Young passed to Robert Stephens who fired a hard drive from the point into the uppér corner of the net. The line of Gary Shill, Jamie McNab and Bill Jeffrey took over and within 4 minutes scored 2 goals. The first by Shill from McNab and Jeffrey and then Jeffrey from Young and McNab. Newcastle got their first goal between these two from a scramble in front of the Port net. Rounding out the first period, Shill hit again from Stephens. In the second period, Newcastle played a little better, but Port -netted two goals, one by Gary LeFort from Ron Evans and the other on a three-way passing play. . From Barrie Leahy to Dave Jackson to Don Phin- ney who pulled the Trigger making the score 6 to 1 in favor of Port. Ken Davidson turned the Net Minding chore over to Keith Fraser in the third. Both turned aside some real hard drives. The boys, Kert rolling up the score as Ron Evans fired home a shot from Bob Young. Then Dave Jackson scored with assists going to Young and Phinney. Young rounded out the scoring for Port on a pass from Shill. This goal was scored while Port was two men short and Newcastle at full strength. = Newcastle fired one more goal to round out there scoring. The refrees called a tight game and Port came out on the short end. Playing most of the second period and part of the third, short handed. Then on Sunday, January 7, the Grieve's Gulf Boys hosted Stouffville and came out with a 3 - 3 tie. It was Truner for Stouff- ville to open the scoring in the 1st period. In the second period it was Gary Lefort who opened the scoring with Larry Jackson and Dale Bronson assisting. Then Garry Shill scored the second with Ron Evans assisting. The 3rd period opened with Gary Shill getting his second goal of the night. Feasbv and Jones for Siouffville ended the scoring in this game 17 penalties, 9 P.P., 8 S. This was one of the best games the boys have played. The Grieves Gulf boys have only 2 games left before Play-Downs.
