Reeves delivered a most fitting message entitled "Living on a Shoestring" which proved appropriate nearing the New Year. the choir rendered their anthem in fine style with Mr. B. Snelgrove and Mr. C. Willis singing solo part. We ap- preciate the two floral bas- kets given from the family of the late Mr. Carl Graham. Offering gathered by Messrs. H. Dearbourn and G. Beacock. At the recent euchre party held in the hall, we were all happy to learn Mrs. Ed. Thompson of our village held the lucky ticket pertaining to the 50 - 50 draw. She received slightly over one hundred dollars. Several prizes were awarded to euchre fans week previous to Xmas. We offer sincere sympathy to Mrs. Mabel Graham and family over the passing away of Carl. Also to Mr. R. Alsop whose mother at the age of 100 years passed away. Several of our young folks were home for the holiday such as Barbara Wozoney and Gordon Williamson from Western. University, London, Ontario. Glad to note Wm. Wozoney Jr. has successfully completed his studies at Ryerson. Jim Martyn was home from Ottawa, Bruce Wilson from Flint, Mich. U.S.A. and Jean Snelgrove of Toronto. Many Christmas Day din- ners were served to family and friends during the fes- tive season 'including Mr. and Mrs, E. Martyn en- tertained their family Mr. and Mrs. John Lake and children of Oakwood; Mr. and Mrs. B. Martyn of Toronto. oh Mr. and Mrs. L. Beacock had her sister and husband Mr. and Mrs. L. Devitt and son Neil, a cousin Miss A. Strickland all of Oshawa; Mr. and Mrs. Mike Con- nolley, Toronto. the Beacock immediate family Don and wife plus two young sons Lee and Blair of Seagrave; Grant and wife from Shirley, Bryan and wife from Port Perry. At the Ben Smiths, Mr. and Mrs. Don Leslie and family from Seagrave, ,Mr. and Mrs. C. Colby, Uxbridge, Mr. and Mrs. D. Laxton and little son of Tamagami with her parents Mr. and Mrs. C. Postill. Mr. and Mrs. Ben Smith enjoyed a week near Mon- treal at the home of their daughter Mr. and Mrs. H. Garvey and family. Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Dick- inson, Toronto were with her mother Mrs. Rena Smith and Mrs. Merle Murphy and son Allen. Mr. and Mrs. Jas. Doupe, Norwood in the village a few days. Mrs. C. Luke had son and wife Mr. and Mrs. M. Luke and two sons, Burlington. Mr. and Mrs. W. Bond, Toronto and village sisters and brothers. Mr. and Mrs. Norisse Howey enjoyed Christmas dinner with her daughter's family, the Jubenvilles, in . Unit No. Whitby and during the even- ing a telephone visit with the Peel's in Calgary. The Christmas meeting of 1 of. the Pripce Albert U.C.W. was held Monday, December, 18th at the home of Mrs. Betty Howey with twenty four ladies present. We enjoyed having as our guests Mrs, Moira Reeves, and also six members of the new Unit No. 2 Mrs. Lorraine Andrews, Mrs. Ruby Dearborn, Mrs. Barbara Garside, Mrs. Mary Pearsell, Mrs. Louanne Pop- owich and Mrs. Bonnie Sutton. During the evening many carols were sung and an inspiring devotional was conducted about the increas- ng tinsel and glitter show of our modern Christmas and the hope that we will return to a more devout awareness of the true meaning of Christmas. A brief business meting was held and several annual reports presented and announcements of a roast beef dinner in January and a variety show in February. Motions were received to donate to the M. & S. fund, the Sunday School work and that of our ex- cellent choir. A delicious hot luncheon was served by the committee and by Mrs. Myrtle Snelgrove, our re- tiring President. * Hope everyone had a good Christmas and enjoyed the holiday season. Mr. and Mrs. Ross Sweet- man and Sharon enjoyed dinner Christmas Eve with Mr. and Mrs. Dale Hallett and Christine, Sunderland. Mr. John Doupe spent" Christmas with his family. Derek Short is home from hospital. Sister Terry Lee really missed having him home for Christmas. The Gouldings, the Pig: eaus, the Sweetmans and the Mclntyrés celebrated brin- ging in the New Year at the Rock Haven, Peterborough. Sharon Steven and Shelly McIntyre visited with their grandmother, Mrs. G. Slack over the holiday. Please call 7061 with any news items.
