Mr. Buckland made a short address and presented his pictures and the projector to the club. Playing cards and notions was also' received from Mrs. Nasmith, The club appreciates these gifts. A bus trip to see the leaves was announced. Club euchres and * social events are much enjoyed by all. Mr. and Mrs. Ivan Grey attended the wedding of John Oyler and Helen Malishewski at St. Hedwig's Church in Oshawa last Saturday. Mr. Eric Park who has been a patient in Wellesley Hospital is now home with his family. Mrs. Parks brother .. Mr. Richard Wilson of Eng- land arrived yesterday to spend three weeks with the Park family. Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Brad- ley, Mr. and Mrs. Pat O'Hara and children of Scarborough called on Mrs. Dora Nott on Sunday. Past District Governor Herb Viser of Whitby at- tended the Port Perry Lions Club regular meeting Mon- day evening and showed coloured slides he had taken at the District A Convention in Kitchener and the Lions International Convention in Mexico City. Other guest at the meeting were Bill Barr and Jim VanCamp. Minister- composer to speak To address a Missionary Rally in St. John's Presby- terian Church, Wednesday, October 11, at 11 a.m. special speaker will be Rev. Su-ti Tan, Taiwan, principal of Tam Kang High School (pronounced Tam Kong) which is located in Tamsui in the northern part of the island. At the request of the Canadian Church Mr. Tan has been sent by the Presby- terian Church in Taiwan on a mission of evangelism to our people. From his long exper- ience with young people in Taiwan he brings a rich and relevant message of how the gospel relates to people in times of tension and frustra- tion. Born in Taiwan, Mr. Tan attended Tam Kang Boys' School and took his theology at Taiwan Theological Col- lege and Tokyo Union Semi- nary. He is an accomplished musician; having studied piano . under - Miss Isabel Taylor, and music compos- ition under Professor Kioka in Tokyo and later at the Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto. The 20th annual anniver- sary dance sponsored by the Hospital. Auxiliary and held at the Legion Hall was a decided success. One hun- dred couples enjoyed dan- cing to Joey Van Orchestra, Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Hop- kins, son Larry have re- turned home from a months tour of Europe. While the total registration for the Night Classes at Port Perry H.S, decreased slight- ly this year the number and variety of courses offered compare favourably with the past sessions. a total of 172 registrants mad application, and of that number some one hundred and sixty -adults have been successfully - placed courses of their choice.
