This divi- sion, sponsored by the South Ontario Agricultural Society in co-operation with the Canada Department of Agri- culture, Ontario Department of Agriculture and Food and the Oshawa Kiwanis Club, will be held July 20, commen- cing at 1 p.m. Taking part in this Activity and Achievement Day will be junior farmer club members from all sections of South Ontario County. In addition there are classes for compet- itors from Durham, Victoria and York Counties. In addition to the showing of livestock and ponies there will be 4-H agricultural club exhibits as well as 4-H Homemaking Club exhibits. Both events will be held in the evening. The Town of Whitby has been a great upsurge in enthusiasm for log sawing in recent years. The event has been one of the attractions at the County Town Carnival for the past three years. Last vear three Whitby teams competed at oshawa Fair, two of them winning the top awards. Log sawing created such interest at the recent cele- bration of the centennial of the Town of Uxbridge. Seventeen teams took part and more than 200 spectators cheered on their favorites. The growth of the sport in recent years. in this area has been such that the committee in charge has issued a challenge to teams from surrounding counties to take part and prove their prowess against the best Ontario County can produce. The equipment and installation cost will be con- tributed by the Bell Tele- phone Company as part of that company's policy of providing equipment in hist- oric buildings and in schools for retarded children. Mr. Harvey Reddick of Niagara Falls visited the Museum on Sunday and outlined the plan Bell 'will follow. The central switch- board will be located in the school-house.
