There was also a specially decorated cake, flowers and gifts for the Guides who had earned the All-Round Cord and Canadian Cord. - District commissioner Mrs. Quinlan presented the cords Mrs. Peyton gave gifts from the Guider's Council, Mrs. Johnston had gifts from the local association and Mrs. Howell presented the pins from the Guide company. Those receiving the All Round Cord were Joyce Bruce (4 emblems, 36 bad- ges), Bonnie Short (3 em- blems, 24 badges), Diane Barr (3 emblems, 28 bad. ges), Diane Howell (3 em- blems, 26 badges), and Bon- nie Payne (2 emblems, 21 cipients badges). Karen Howell with 6 emblems and 39 badges received the Canada Cord and the Gold Cord. This was the first Canada Cord earned by a Guide in the Port Perry district. Mothers of the happy re. were present as guests and lunth was serv. ed by some of the U,C.W. The second affair which had a "Star" caller was Santa's visit to the local grocery on Sat. afternoon. This seems to become more popular, each year and the Wanamakers were kept busy handing out treats to about 150 children who showed up. and coffee to the older ones. This was the Saturday for weddings. Mr, and Mrs, Fred Nobbs and Ron were in Milliken attending the marriage of Mrs. Nobbs' niece Miss Lorraine Bread- on, At the same time the Nicholls family were at the United Church in Keswick where Mr, Doug Nicholls '(Lawrence's nephew) and Miss Julie Fairburn were married; This is election day for Reach Twp,, so it is time for us to mention again that we believe people would-be interested in hav- ing at least a short account of council proceeding print- ed in the local paper. In the evening the Christ- mas Pageant was presented for the 19th time here by the junior S. S. members. According to modern ideas this may be old-fashioned but 'it is still soniething quite important to our young people. Mr. Critch conducted the first part of the service, then Supt.
