€ Last Sunday, Nov. 28th, the Ministry", to a full 1071, our 75th Anniversary, Church. Our choir and its of Greenbank UC. Rev. organist, Mrs, Betty Dobson Dr. G. Keith McMillan, a are to be commended on former Greenbank boy, de- the fine rendition of "Here livered an inspiring mess. My Prayer", age, "Why I have stayed in men" Quartette, our guests, a a "The Lure And Lilt 'By the Happy Wanderer Our stay at Inverness was all too brief but crammed with some interesting and historic discoveries. Headlines about a new approach to the Loch Ness Monster was stimulating some fantastic claims. A scientist by the name of Dr. Naegeli was hoping to lure the Monster to the surface by some kind of "killer ray'. His experiment was to cost some $1,500.00 but as of now, no confirmation of his intense search from one end of the loch to another. A British paper was offering 8 fifteen hundred pounds for authoratative evidence signed by more than one witness, We joined thé hunt, and you'll not be surprised we saw -- nothing but the Loch Ness, for a true son of Scotland will look a long time and suffer a great deal, if he thinks he can get fifteen hundred pounds. If any who read these lines still: believe this Monster is at large, it might be worth the Air fare for an on the spot check. : Inverness is a fascinating city and well named the Capital of the Highlands. The Mackay's with whom we visited were most generous in their hospitality. Mr. Mackay was the minister who officiated at our wed- ding and is the chaplain to the hospitals in the city. Six days in their luxurious home with all their wit and Christian fellowship was a tremendous tonic. The city. has a long history going back to the time of the Picts and was their Capital. It was in the year 565 A.D. that 'Columba made his contact in an all out effort to con- vert the pagan Scots to the Christian faith. The name of Oliver Cromwell will not die as he built a fort in Inverness .in 1652 and part of the ramparts still stands. The old castle was blown up in 1746 during _the time of the Jacobite uprising and 'a much more modern castle was erected on the same site in 1835. A four and a half hour trip from Inverness to Edin- 2 burgh, was-breathtaking. We-made our way: through "4 Carrbridge where memories of our honeymoon became very much alive, At that-time: Bill and Cath Mackay were resident in Carrbridge and acted as * chaperons to two Blackbirds, learning to get their - 4 matrimonial wings. --~ -- as ERI Aviemore is an exciting place. From it there runs a road east to Glenmore and Loch Morlich, looked down upon by the Cairngorms, where you find four of Scotland's highest peaks, over 4000 feet high. At this point you will find a ski road that winds it way into the surpass. For miles around you can see enough beauty to make any atheist change his mind. "We arrived at Edinburgh about the noon hour when - all of the restaurants were jammed to capacity and then some more. We spent someof the afternoon time succumbing to the malady of the weaker sex. Window - shopping', and thén'it was on to the Castle. What nationalaties blend there. In the Scottish National Memorial, there is an atmosphere of reverence where the horrors of war and the unbelievable acts of : * bravery, join in what seems a contradiction. There was just enough time left to call on one of my g former Professors and an elder in my church in Corstorphine, Rev: A. Barr, D.D and: renew happy associations with his wife and charming daughter Margaret. As the plane touched down at Turnhouse the lovely daughter of the Mackay's, Eleanor arrived from L London and we were soon on our return trip to In- 'verness arriving there later than we planned, due to an : 8 accident where a car ran off into the moor and for- tunately left the lights on, making identification possible. By a miracle all were saved without broken . bones. It was with truly-thankful hearts we joined around the midnight snack with Bill and Cath and Eleanor being the epitome of thoughtfulness: and generosity. i : } hos 8 - & = Mt od san 3g BE: House or Howano 241 Queen 985-2272 ~~ PORT PERRY "The Coach. of the Homeland" | of whom our own Hugh Baird was one, are to be commended also on their several numbers and were very much appreciated and enjoyed by everyone.
