The annual méeting of the - Ontario County Cream Producers' Association was held on Monday, Octobér 25th, in the Department of Agriculture and Foog/Board ~ Room, Uxbridge, with 38 farmers in attendance. Mr. Gordon Risebrough, Provincial Director on the Producers' Marketing Board, addressed the meeting. He outlined some of the work that the Cream Producers' Marketing Board carried out during the year. Mr. Harold Martkn; & "Brown, Sandford. Secretary-Manager, Provincial Producers' Association, said that the Board is presently dealing with the Creamery Operators for an increased Cream ne NED price to producers, and that the matter is presently in arbitration." OPP reports The OPP accident report for the week of October 18 to 24 shows a total of 33 motor vehicle collisions. were 9 persons injured and the total damage to the vehicles amounted to $21,590. To this date in 1570, there were 12 traffic fatalities, and to the same date this year there have been 10 fatalities. The convention: held this year at the Royal York Hotel October 25 - 27 is the largest annual gathering for hospital personnel in Canada. This year, about 8,000 delegates attended, and they heard discussions and addresses from more than 80 speakers imd panelists. Van Camp was officially appointed, and took the oath for the position. On October 1, she assumed --complete responsibility. Miss Van Camp who is a Blackstock: native, applied for the job around the end of August. Out of 12 applicants, five were granted in: terviews.: Miss- Van ~Camp was interviewed on a Friday night, and the next day, Sept." 10) was notified that she had the position. One of these things was the circulating of a new. restrictive by-law concerning the Meadowgreen ~ Subdvision. The Ontario Municipal Board stipulated that the new by-law- must be cir- culated to every property owner. within 400 feet of the new subdivision. "I had a bit of a problem trying to determine just who lives .within the 400 feet and who doesn't," she says. Miss Van Camp explains that the treasury and tax lairly straight forward. "It's a question of taking in money and paying 'the bills." However, handling all the correspondence for the 'Township --is--not quite "as casy. "I'm finding out that certain people --just don't communicate very well by letter, and it's hard to figure out exactly. what they And she says lawyers are among the worst culprits. Miss. Van Camp is responsible for the business of Cartwiight Township, an area of about 40,000 acres, with more than 2,000 tax payers. Most of the work she says is getting to krow people, who does what, what has happened in the past and what is likely to happen in the future. Once a month she must attend the regular meeting of. Council. "We haven't had any fireworks at Council yet and all the members are helpful and understanding. For me, it's really just a question of organizing and preparing the business." And to help herself organize and prepare the Township business, she is presently studying a Municipal = Clerk - and Treasurer course through correspondence with -.Queen's University... «...... Until recently, the positions of Clerk Treasurer have been predominantly held by men. But Miss Van Camp feels that a woman can hold any position she wants, and if she doesn't have the chance, then it's her own fault. "Women are really better suited to a job like.mine," she says with a smile." Because they are better organized, and a man would really' need a good secretary." The Meals on Wheels program is now into the second week ot operation. The meals, prepared at the Community Nursing Home are delivered Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays by volunteer drivers, and are available for $1.00 to any citizen who 'might want them.
