BA BL 35" . y LATER" : 3 PORT PERFY RECREATION CORNER... 'Neither rain, nor hail, or dark of night shall prevent Tot Lot and Senior Play- ground from going on -- or something like that. Lately though, it seems like we've had a brief taste of all of the above weather conditions. * However, no matter what the conditions may be we still have a great time. Last week the hike we had planned for Tot Lot was slightly dampened by the prevailing weather, but we still took the children for a long walk. It turned out to be a satisfying substitute, but we'll still have to have the real thing sometime in August. Friday, was the big day for both Sr. Playground and Tot Lot because on this day Sr. Playground held a Mock Track and Field Meet and Tot Lot held a Tin Can Der- by. These events include the Tin Can Kick, Tin Can Bowling, Tin Can Toss, and a Tin Can Slalom Race. The winning team also re- ceived a golden trophy as well as red ribbons. The whole day was a .complete success at both playgrounds. Wednesday (last Wed.) also turned out to be a smashing success at Senior Playground when they staged a Beauty Centest. in which bors dress- ed as girls and vice versa. stick and a straight razor respectively for their hilari- ous efforts. This week we have a hike and kite-flying contest plan- ned for Senior Playground & a Galagolouchie Hunt and a Talent Show for Tot Lot. Last week's craft program. me at Senior Playground was highlighted when Mrs, F. Warren (Clara) showed the young people how to make tissue paper flowers. It was a smashing success as were the "dip-it" that she showed us how to do this past Tues- day. Thanks Mrs. Warren from all of us, for your time and interest. Next week promises to be as fun and as interesting as previous weeks, so around for the fun. The big events planned for next week include a white elephant sale and a playday at Senior Playground & a Mock Track and Field Meet and Hobo Day at Tot Lot. | Elmer's stick | - Mr. and Mrs. W.J.
