Sunday visitors with the Ballards were Mrs. John Locke, Mr. and Mrs. Phil Clark and children, and Mr. and Mrs, Lloyd Clark and fa- mily, Minister Reports Hikes In Minimum The Minister of Labour re- cently announced increases in Ontario's minimum wage rates. The Honourable Dalton Bales said the general rate would be increased from the present $1.30 hourly to:$1.50 effective next October 1st, and to $1.65 on April 1st, 1971. . The construction industry rate, currently at $1.55 will be increased to $1.75 and to $1.90 on the same dates. Mr. Bales said he made the announcement at this time "to give industry time to ad- just to the new rates." He also said that regula- tions giving effect to the Wage Rates new rates and learner and student rates will be devel: oped and announced during the summer. .The minimum wage was first established in Ontario in 1963 with the general rate at' $1 hourly and the con- struction rate at $1.25. The general rate was in. creased to $1.30 and the con- 'struction rate to $1.55 on January 1, 1969.
