Many toured the Par- liament Building and enjoy- ed the bus trip up the Dowe- ways and other interesting places including Hull, Que- bec. RE BE * Mr. and Mrs. Bill McLeod and family with Mr. and Mrs. Second Campaign The '""Bag-of Bulbs' cam- paign held by the Lions Club every year is generally a one evening event for the mem- bers. However, due to lack of volunteers, the 18 members present were unable to cover the complete territory. Only about half of the 600 bags packed were sold, and a second campaign will take place Monday, June 8. The second half of the bulbs will bedistributed in Utica, Epsom, Greenbank, Manchester and * Seagrave. Mr. Black MC's his own programme on C.J.R.N., Nia- gara Falls from 3 p.m. until 7 p.m. on 1600 a.m. radio. On most days this programme comes through clear in the Port Perry area. The C.J.R.N. station is heard in many.parts of the U.S.A. and right across a large part of Ontario. A special gift "from the Whitby Hist- orical" Society - 2 boxes of deeds and mortgages. from Reach township in the 1820s and 1830s and a number of receipts and letters dated 1880-1920. Other recent don- ations - a one-hundred year old clock, a WWI helmet, a potash kettle, spinning wheel, quant- Bibles, a plough, a child's sleigh, charcoal portraits of ancestorsof two local families, 2 oil paintings, 1 by Mrs. Cutts and 1 by Mrs. Spurr, late of Prince Albert. The Museum Board would like to acknowledge the donors of these items by name. - but experience elsewhere has shown, however, that such recognition increases the danger of - break-ins in the homes of donors. Therefore, public acknowledgement will be made henceforth only at request of donors. Canoe the Nonquon '70 There will be - increased participation in the Canoe Race this year. About twenty applications have been receiv- ed 50 far with two weeks still to go. Last year 3b canoes took part: The Nonquon River is at a lower level this year than last,- however, no change in starting point is contemplated at this time.
