Hvidsten County Milk Producers The Ontario County Milk Producers held their annual meeting on Monday, January 26th, in the Township Hall, Sunderland. The main pur- pose of the meeting was to elect committee members for 1970, and to hear Mr. George McLaughlin, Chairman of the Ontario Milk Marketing Bd., and Mr. Jack Newman, As- sistant Marketing Officer for Central Ontario. -- Mr. McLaughlin outlined %/ 'some of the objectives of the Milk Marketing Board for 1970. He stated that progress had been made during the _ bast year in developing plans for. the marketing of indus Elect Directors For 1970 trial milk, for a quality pay- ment plan for grade A milk, as well as for the rationaliza- tion of transportation. At- tention had also been given during the year to National Dairy Policy, milk pricing, price differentials, and the cheese industry. Mr. Jack Newman outlined the work that had been done during the past year on re-arrang- ing trucking routes for milk. Mr. Jan Visser, Milk Com- mission Fieldman, & Mr. W. J. Winter Carnival 2 Days, Feb. 5, 6 The = highly successful Winter Carnival staged by students of Port Perry High School last year will be re- peated. An announcement to that effect is printed in the February issue of the High School paper 'Student Views'. It will take place on Thursday and Friday, Feb. 5 and 6 with both outdoor and indoor | events and if the students can match last years carnival, it's bound to be- exhibitors Exhibitors On Showings The annual meeting of the Ontario County Holstein Club was held in the Township Hall, Manchester, on Satur- day, January 31st, 1970, with 60 Holstein breeders in at- tendance. President, Frank Barkey, opened the meeting at 11:00 am. In his opening address, Mr. Barkey gave a detailed summary of the projects car- ried out by the club in 1969. Mr. Marland Murray, Mar- tintown, President of the Holstein-Friesian Association of Canada, was the guest speaker. He gave a very fine illustrated talk on his recent trip to Africa, Rome & Paris. Mr. Murray was introduced to the meeting by Mr. Bob Flett, and was thanked, on behalf of the meeting, for his very splendid and infor- mative talk by Hugh Ormis- ton. The various projects car- ried out during the year were discussed, and it was deefded to sponsor the following pro- jects in 1970: 1. County Tour 2, Bus Tour to other Counties ' 3. Twilight Meeting 4, Black and White Show 5. Championship Black and White Show 6. Annual Banquet Breed in Ontario " Breééd in Onario County Mr. Gerry Nelson, Field- man for the Holstein-Friesian Association, gave a detailed report on his work during 1969. He congratulated the from Ontario County on their splendid suc- cess in the show ring at the Championship . Show, Peter- borough, and at the Royal Winter Fair. He announced the winners of 70 Long Term Production Certificates by 35 Ontario County Breeders, and 268 Star Brood Cow Certifi- cates by 19 breeders. Mr. Robert Flett, National Director, Holstein - Friesian Association, reported on his recent trip to Cuba. He saw a number of Canadian cattle.
