Frank Godley A unique ceremony was conducted recently at the local Masonic Lodge when Fidelity Lodge 428, G.R.C., AF. & AM. had it's annual Installation and Investiture of Officers. Ninety-five members and visitors gathered to witness the Installation of Bro. Wes- ley G. Lane as Worshipful Master, and the investiture , of 1970 Officers, gathering from Port Hope, Bowmanville Oakwood, Cannington, Sun- derland, Brooklin, Oshawa, Toronto, Whithy, Blackstock, Greenbank and Nestleton, & one Mason from Renfrew County in Scotland. Installing Master Wor. Bro. Stuart T. Lane, installed his brother, Wesley 'G. Lape, with two other brothers, Don- ald Lane, from Oshawa; and Roy Lane, of Port Perry, in- volved in the ceremony, all four being sons of the Late Wor. Bro. MIDGLEY Clinton Llewellyn Midgley of the Township of Reach passed away at the Commun. ity Memorial Hospital, Port Perry, on January 2nd, 1970 He was born in Seagrave, Ontario on November 20th, 1907 and was the son of Nor- man Midgley and the late Louisa Bryant. .On May 17th, 1930 ._he married Phyllis Wheatley. For a few years he farmed in Reach Township and then moved to Zephyr, Ontario to operate the feed mill. In 1947 he returned to Reach Township, where he purchased and operated the feed mill at Utica, Ontario, until 1966 at which time he closed the mill because of poor health. : Clinton Midgley was a member of the United Church and for a number of years served as treasurer and Elder at Manchester 'United |Church. The deceased was a Past 'Master of Fidelity Lod. ge, Port Perry and a member of Succoth Chapter, Uxbridge Ontario. He leaves surviving, his wife, Phyllis, two sons, Allan and Lawrence, both of Reach Township, a daughter, Carol (Mrs. Norman Meek) of Sand. ford, Ontario, his father, Nor- man Midgley, a brother, Clif- ford and five grandchildren. Interment was in Pine Grove Cemetery, Prince Al bert, Ontario, following the service at McDermott - Pana- baker Chapel, Port 'Perry, Ontario, on Monday, January 5th, 1970. Rev. Financially we are still sol- vent and other reports show- ed a good deal of work done. Decisions had to be made about almost everything but only a few changes resulted. One change was a revised price for catering. Now it will cost $2.00 for a hot meal and $1.75 for a salad plate, The ladies voted to revert to 2 units for 1970 and names were drawn to decide the membership in each After the long business period we moved again -- this time to the basement for lunch. Unit 1 ladies had their 1st meeting on Monday evening at the home -of Mrs. Scott. Several members were miss- ing due to flu so the slate of officers is still uncertain. Plans for a pancake supper on Wed., Feb. 18th are under way. "Sunday services were affec- ted by the flu too with S.S. having' an attendance of only 66. There was no pro- gram number and no one ad- mitted having a birthday. 1969 Busy Year The B pack had a very busy fall. The year opened with 10 boys and two leaders on Sept. 9th. On Sept. 23rd Miss Mari- anne Smits joined the group as leader. By Dec. 16th the group had explanded to 27 boys, 4 leaders. Since Sept. 16th regular meetings have been held. A pot luck sup- per was held on Oct. 25th at which time Mr, C. Reesor was honoured with a gift. Oct 28th a Hallowe'en party. Nov. 8th a visit was paid to Peter- borough to view CHEX TV 12. Nov. 9th, six cubs took part in the remembrance day parade. Nov. 25th the boys sold calendars in Port Perry and Greenbank, and on Dec. 16th a Christmas party was held for the cubs and parents and 65 persons were present. At 8 o'clock Santa arrived and spent 30 minutes with B pack --the cubs exchanged gifts and the evening was closed with a lunch supplied by the mothers and served by the For B Pack Cubs B pack on Dec, 20th travel. led to Toronto .to Christmas Wonderland, During the fall meetings B pack was visited 3 times by Rev. B PACK WOLF CUBS On Jan, 18th B pack cubs friends and several parents, along with Akela and his helpers held a toboggan party on the 12th Con. Reach Twp. 40 persons were present for this party. The sub zero weather did not hamper the cubs in any way. After two hours of hard sliding and playing in the snow Akela assembled all the cubs and friends for a 5 minute walk to Akela's house where Ake- la's wife served everybody hot cocoa and cookies. Every- body went home tired and with rosy cheeks.
