"Small Barn Destroyed By Fire Local firemen were called out at 10 a.fn. Tuesday morning when fire broke out in a small barn in Prince Albert, owned by Allen Coates. When. firemen arrived .the fire had already spread throughout most of the building. After such a poor turnout last year, the Legion executive were pleased to see such a large attendance this year. Over 100 veterans sat down to a roast beef dinner, prepar- ed by the Legion Auxiliary. , John Maw, acted as chair- man for the evening and introduced the head table guests, which included: Les Andrews, Poppy chajrman; Herbert Buckland, Mrs. Clara Warren, president of the Leg- ion Auxiliary; Jack. Madsen Wins First At Oshawa Coin-A-Rama The Oth" annual Coin-A- Rama Show, sponsored by the Oshawa and District Coin Club was held in the Picadilly Room of the Genosha Hotel on November 1st. ~ - Severa¥hundred interested persons viewed the numerous displays set up by collectors from across the province, or brought coins from the many dealers who had bourse tables at the show. The displays were judged by members of the: Ontario Numismatic Association. Jay- son Madsen, Chairman of the local Port. Perry Collectors Club Coin Section, won first |' prize in his category, and received a red ribbon and a trophy for his display of Can- adian large cents. Points were awarded for the manner in which the coins , were arranged, and the inform- "ation which ' accompanied them. Last year's parade was one of the best held, but. there is always room for improve, ment. The Uxbridge Legion Pipe Band, and the Port Perry High School Band will be participat- ing and the parade will form at the High School, and start moving at 1 pm. - Prizes will be awarded for best decorated floats and Santa will be handing out bags of candy to the children. ~ It is suggested that the merchants maintain uniform hours prior to Christmas, start- ing Thursday, December 18 up to and including Wednes- day, December 24 from 9 am. to 9 pm, pital on the 4th of November.
