Rissor - Reesor Families Re-Union In Pennsylvania The 230th anniversary of the arrival in Pennsylvania of the first Peter Risser "was celebrated = on August: 16, 1969, by some 300 of his descendants at Elizabethtown, Pa. Members were present from eight states and from Canada. Among the twenty- four Canadians present were Mrs. Fred Reesor, Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Reesor, and Mr. and Mrs. Merlin Dowson of Port Perry. JOHN RAHM "Following an illness of three weeks the death occur- red August 23rd, 1969 at Port Perry Community Hospital of Lillian Frances Rahm in her 66th year. A daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. William Venning the deceased was born and was a life long resident of Blackstock. ; Mrs. Rahm was a faithful and active member of St. John's Anglican Church. Also of the Women's Institute for which she was secretary in 1926 and 1927 and president in 1953 and 1954, as well as several other lesser offices over the years. : On May 19th, 1930 she was united in marriage with John Henry Rahm. She is survived by her | husband, one son Allan of Port Perry, 2 grandchildren: Cheryl and Ricky, a sister, Mrs. Ernest Hale (Alice) of Sutton. "and a brother Orr Venning of Cadmus. The funeral service was held in McDermott-Panabaker Chapel August 26th, and was conducted by Rev. R. C. Rose, Rector of St. Johns, with interment in Cartwright Anglican Cemetery. Raymond Neil Rohrer late Raymond Neil Rohrer of Blackstock, R.R. 1 was held on Wednesday, July 30th, 1969 from McDermott-Pana- baker Funeral Chapel in Port Perry with the Rev. Victor Parsons officiating. Due to an accident on July 26, Raymond, age 11 years, died in Sick Childrens Hospital Toronto, on Sunday, July 27th. Raymond Neil was born in Port Perry on May 16, 1968, the youngest son of Norman and Doris Rohrer. He was a member of Cadmus Sun- day School, attended school at Cartwright Central Public School and belonged to 1st Cartwright Cub "A" Pack: Raymond is survived by his parents, two brothers Ken- neth and Barry and one sister Barbara, all at home. Pallbearers were Warren Rohrer, Gary Rohrer, Ricky Vivian and David Fallis. The flower bearers were all playmates, Brad and Terry Black, Paul and Peter Kristen- sen, Mike and Johnny Kuel, Valarie Gould, Michael Wood- ward and Garry Vivian, Burial was in, the family [4 plot at Cadmus Union Ceme- |4 tery. PORT PERRY STAR -- Thursday, Sept. 4th, 1969 -- 15 Risser's Mennonite Church, near Elizabethtown, built on the original Risser land grant from William Penn, were the scene of this picnic. After registration, antique tools and equipment were displayed in the school house by Mr. Abram Risser. There were also several photos of former re-unions as well as lists of fourteen different spellings of 'the name 'Reesor'. After a bountiful lunch a program was presented in the Church. A children's speaking choir rendered an interesting number, giving some anecdotes in the history of the family. The President, Mr. Phares S. Risser welcomed the guests and called on Mr. Abney Risser who spoke on "A Heritage Given". Mr. Risser, who is 82 years old gave a talk on some of his memories. Mr. Gordon Reesor, Port Perry, President of the Canad] ian branch of the family wa introduced and asked ud speak. After bringing greeting from Canada, Mr. Reesor gave a short history of the descend ants of Mr. Christian Risser, who moved to Canada with his wife and family in 1804.
