He was a son of the lat Arthur and Ellen Sweetman, Born 'on Scugog Island, July 7, 1917. He was a veteran of World War II and served overseas from 1942 - 1946 with the R.C.0.C. A mémber of the Royal Canadian Legion Uxbridge, Branch170, and the United Church. Surviving are his wife, the former Doreen James who he married August 21, 1942, a son Darryl and daughter Arm- orald, Gayle and Denise. Also surviving are four brothers Stewart, Port Perry; Norman Uxbridge; Bruce, Toronto; Ronald, Manitoba; and six sisters Blanche (Mrs. R. Prent- ice), Port Perry; Bernice, Toronto; Marguerite (Mrs. Donald Lewis); Oshawa, Ail- een (Mrs. Sidney Egginton) Uxbridge; Rena (Mrs. Ross O' Hagan), Toronto; June (Mrs. Carl Kydd), Brooklin. He was predeceased by a brother Amasa. § Funeral Services were held at the Low and Low Chapel, Uxbridge on Wednesday, June 11, 1969, and conducted by Rev. James Mills of Trinity United Church. The Royal Canadian Legion Comrades attended in a body. Cremation St. James, Toronto. Graduates THOMAS ARTHUR BRUNT Thomas Arthur Brupt, B.A. son of Mr. and Mrs: James T. Brunt, Wallaceburg, re- ceived his Bachelor of Phv. sical Education degree at the Eighteenth Convocation, held at the University of Water- loo. Mr. Brunt is a gradu- ate of Wallaceburg Dictrict University of Western Ont- ario. Hil -- On Wednesday, June 18th 1969 the fourth annual grade eight' graduation banquet for Cartwright Central School was held at the recreational centre, Blackstock. Forty-four happy students their parents and teachers enjoyed the chicken dinner catered by the O.N.O. Club. Mr. Romeril congrat- ulated the students and said grace. After dinner everyone enjoyed listening to David Larmer and Denice Edgerton| read a book compiled by the Grade 7A Class and cont aining . many "interesting and amusing stories about the grade '8 class. . The grade 8 class had prepared some songs and skits which were enjoyed by every- one. Mr. Art Rowan, represent- ative for Cartwright and Man- vers Townships on the County Board of Education congrat- ulated and presented to each student a Class Graduation picture. He wished everyone luck in whatever course he entered next year. The 'Canadian Order of Foresters presented the Best All Round Student Award to Leslie Wright. Leslie then, on behalf of her class gave a very interest- ing farewell message to public school. The principal, Mr. B. J. Church then added his congratulations to the stud- entsand called on Mr. Paisley, the principal of Cartwright, High School to give them a message of welcome to High School. He hoped that they would have success in High School and attend another graduation banquet in five years.
