AT CLUB to the show costumes have been designed and made, and a great deal of imagination and creativeness showed up in the many decorative costumes, On Wednesday, April 9th, all the club's members were in attendance for the second meeting of the Port Perry Lions 4-H Grain Club which was held in the Port Perry High School. At 8:00 p.m. the meeting was called to order by the President, Roy Gerrow. The minutes of the last meeting were read by the Secretary, Irwin Smith and roll call was taken. Then the meeting was turned over to Larry Burt, one of the Club Lead- ers. : Mr. Burt proceeded to give a. discussion on the proper preparation 'of a. seed bed for 'the planting of field crops. The discussion dealt with certain aspects of the soil's condition: such as fer- tility, texture, moisture, and aeration necessary for good crop yields. Mr. Burt show- ed to the club members some interesting slides featuring the effects that different fertilizers have on grains & . legumes in 'their strength: & : growth of the plants.
