Obituary HATTIE MAUD WHALEN Hattie Maud Whalen of Greenbank "died at Fairview Lodge, Whitby, March 8th, 1969. She was born on Manitou- lin Island August 10, 1879. She came with her parents Daniel and Mary Whalen to 12th Con. of Reach to live. When her father died in 1910 she and her mother moved to Greenbank, where her mother died 1923. In 1962 she went to Fairview. She was a member of the United Church, Rev. Critich conducted service at MeDet- mott - Panabaker Funeral Chapel, March 11th, 1969, Burial was at Bethel Ceme- tery, Greenbank. Pall-bear- ers were Gordon Jennings, Wm, Carnegie, Leroy Till, Lester Baylis, Reg. Wallace, Arthur Couves. Handicra ndicr The Louise Patterson Guild held their March meeting in the Presbyterian Church Hall with a large number of mem- bérs and four visitors pre- sent. Mrs. Naples, President, opened the meeting as usual, with the Lord's Prayer in unison; & greeted the mem- bers. The visitors were in troduced and welcomed. The Secretary's Report was read by Vice-President, Mrs. Hamilton, in the absence of Mrs. Owens who was ill. Mrs. Innes, Treasurer, gave her report. The April meeting will be held in the Presbyterian Hall on the second Wednesday, as usual, We were reminded of the Handicraft Show, May 24th. Unsold-articles will be taken to Mrs. Skerratt's after the Show to be sold there. We are very sorry to re- port that Mrs. Patterson is in Colchester Hospital, Truro, suffering from Shingles. She is anxious to be home as there are eleven students eager to begin their Hooking| , course. A card was sent to cheer and wish her a speedy recovery... The March: ting of the U.C.W. was held at the home of Mrs. Roy Dobson with an attendance of sixteen mem- bers. Mrs. John Kingstone. read the first two verses "For the beauty of the earth".
