ta [2 4 8 > r Local Guides, Brownies Mark World Thinking Day Girl Guides, Rangers and Brownies in our area will join with thousands of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts around the world on Satur- day, February 22 to celebrate "Thinking Day", Chosen be- cause the date marks the birthdays of the founder of Scouting and Giuding, the late Lord Baden-Powell and the World Chief Guide, Olave Lady Baden-Jowell, "Think- ing Day" is the occasion of special ceremonies stressing the Guide ideal of interna- tional friendship. Girls the world over give "Thinking Day Pennies" to the World Thinking Day Fund, which is used to promote Guiding "throughout the world. Pennies collected by local companies and packs will help send trainers to coun- tries where Guide program- mes are being established and will send aid to Guide organizations in time of dis- asters such as in floods and earthquakes. The Girl Guides of Canada support the World Thinking Day Fund through their own Canadian World Friendship Fund. The Chief Commis- sioner for Canada, Mrs. K. B. Clysdale of St. Mary's Ontario reminds the mem- bers of an International Or- ganization it is our duty to help the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts to bring Guiding and Girl Scouting within reach of every girl who wants it." "The Canadian World Friend- Thinking Day Fund." ' A small part of the Cana- dian World Friendship Fund goes -to each of the four World Centres, which are-- "Our Chalet" in Switzerland, "Our Cabana" in Mexico, "Sangam" in India & "Olave House" in London, England. Canadian Guides visit these centres for adventure in in- ternational friendship. The major part of the Canadian World Friendship Fund is used to assist in the expenses of International travelling for Canadian Girl Guides making it possible for them to participate in International Camps, Inter- national Trainings, and Inter- national Conference events each year. Another portion of the fund is used for "In Travel Projects" which makes it possible for Canadian Guides to invite Guides from other countries to special events in Canada. This special day will be marked by the Guides, Brow- nies and Rangers in our lo- cality, with special meetings.
