Cafik's Ottawa Report Jan. 30, 1969 -- Today the new estate tax and gift tax proposals were tabled in the House df Commons by the Minister of Finance. I was delighted to find that The Ontario County Milk Producers held their annual meeting on Monday, January 27, in the Township Hall, Sunderland. The main purpose of the meeting was to elect committee members for 1969 and to hear Mr. George Mc- Laughlin, "Chairman of the Ontario Milk Marketing Board. Mr. McLaughlin outlined some of the objectives of the Milk Marketing - Board for 1969. He stated that progress had been made during the year in developing plans for the marketing of industrial milk, for a quality payment scheme for grade A milk, as well as for the rationalization of transportation, Attention had also been given during the year to National Dairy Policy, milk pricing, price differentials, and the cheese industry. At the conclusion of Mr. McLaughlin's address, there was a lengthy question and answer period. Mr. Gordon Taylor, Milk Commission Fieldman, and Mr. W. J. Cavanagh, Milk Marketing Board 'Fieldman, spoke briefly on their work in the County during the past year. Mr. Walter Beath invited the Ontario County Milk Committee to hold the Dairy Princess Competition at Oshawa Fair in July, 1969.
