Everyone should come out to see the Champs and also the second appearance of Vini's Mini's. Several of the Champions will be crowned by press time. In Tyke La Salle Restaur- ant defeated Duff's Elec- tronic's 15 - 13 in the final game to win the Tyke Cham- pionship. Goodwood have won the Squirt Championship for the second straight year by de- feating Hank's Pastries 10-5 in the third and final game. Don Cochrane's boys came a long way in the playoffs and after losing 6-5 in Goodivood came up with a thrilling 3-2 win in Port Perry to force the third game. Cartwright Bantams will now meet Utica in the Ban- tam final. They defeated a 'stubborn Greenbank team in a sudden-death semi-final after ending up tied in the round-robin. All coaches and managers are urged to play as sched- uled this week to wrap up all series. Cedar Creek Martin den Boer is attend- ing University at Grand Rap- ids, Michigan, US. A. Norma Boynton, Debbie Larocque Jack Cumming, Mr. and Mrs. Rick Larocque and Mr. and Mrs. Ron Larocque attended a filming session of the Carl Smith program at Channel 9 studio last Thursday evening. George Kilpatrick visited his cousins, the Misses Clara, Edith and Laura Brown, in Toronto one day recently. Mrs. James Kirby and the James Blain family visited Mrs. Kirby's sister in Thorn- bury recently. Miss Ieta den Boer visited her sister, Arrieanne, at Berwick last week-end. Final Series Ballard Lumber Juveniles took a one game lead in the 0.A.S.A. Juvenile "C" Cham- pionship series on Saturday night when they defeated a stubborn Tavistock team. 6-3 in Tavistock. Rick Beare pitched a steady game for Port Perry allowing 8 hits and striking out 4 bat- ters. He kept the Tavistock boys under control at most time as the hits were scat- tered over six innings. Tavi- stock scored one run in the third inning on 2 straight doubles and got two runs in the sixth inning on 2 more hits. The entire Port Perry team played good defensive ball to get Rick out of any trouble which was about to start. For Port Perry 10 base hits were picked up. Gene Hurst, Bob Baxter and Bill Wana- maker each had two hits. Dale Beare, John McMaster, Rick Beare and Gary Hunter had one each. They scored three runs in the 3rd inning on singles by Rick and Dale Beare and a well hit ball to left field which bounced off the left fielder's leg and Bob Baxter came around to score. Port got three more runs in the eighth inning on hits by Hurst, Baxter, McMaster and Wanamaker. ° These two teams would appear to be well balanced as -| Saturday night it was any- one's ball game. They will no doubt be out to repay these loyal fans on Saturday night with a home town win. This team has a lot of spirit and ability and were well received in Tavistock. The softball organization there provided sandwiches & coffee after the game for players and spectators. A fine gesture. Sat. night 8.15 at the local park. Come out and see this great series. Bowling § Lindsay Club Wins Final Tournament On Wed., Sept. 18th, the men's section of the Port Perry Lawn Bowling Club held their final tournament for the season. Sixteen teams filled the greens, clubs represented © were Lindsay, Cannington, Oshawa and the local club. The weather was perfect, lots of sunshine and warmth, making it a very enjoyable day. After the three games were played and the tallying up completed, winners were de- clared as follows: The high three game winner Mr. and Mrs. Ward Sonley of Lind- say. The second three game winner was Mr. and Mrs. George McPhaden of Port Perry. High two game winner was another local team Mr. Fred DeNure and Mrs. Dhel Bent- ley. High one game winner was Mr. G.
