LEASING LAMBERT QEAL ISTATH AIO REALTOR 985-7373 The new allocation of vot- ing power, authorized by a private bill approved by the Ontario Legislature, was used for the first time when Ont- ario County Council met on Tuesday at the county build- ing. Under the new rule the ing Township will each have six votes. The reeve and deputy reeve of each muni- cipality will each cast three votes on divisions. Previous- ly each municipality had four votes. One of the more import- ant matters considered at the session was the division of the county into electoral dis- tricts for the purpose of elec- ting members of the county board of education. This ac- tion was delayed due to the introduction of the new equalization factor in the county assessment. The new board will have a total of 20 members. Seven will be elected by Oshawa and 10 by other sections of the county. 'This will mean that some electoral districts will elect one trustee; while other districts will elect two or three trustees. Three members of the board will be elected by sep- arate school supporters. This part of the election will cov- er Oshawa and the entire county. The council also debated a. recommendation from one of its committees for a grant toward the Oshawa General Hospital Building Fund. Tt will also confirm the appoint- ment of county representa. tives to the Durham College Board.
