And apparently some beer drinkers' fancies have done exactly that. However, all is not so sim- ple . as it sounds for the would-be home brewer. The strings attached to a beer application are many The appli- cant must swear that any beer he makes is for the sole use of himself and his imme- diate family. The beer can- not be taken off his premises and most certainly cannot be sold. The application also notes exactly what equipment can be used for making the beer and forbids the use of any- thing that remotely hints of a still. The applicant must swear that he has néver been con- victed of any liquor offences having to do with the illegal sale of liquor. For those taking an' inter- est in making an application, the RCMP also takes a great RETREATS WANTED 985-7373 They like to make sure no- body is violating the terms of their agreement with the customs and excise people. And, like everything else, time also seems to be work- ing against the amateur hops maker. The beer, once it has been brewed, must sit for ten or 12 days. Of course there's no telling what the stuff is going to taste like. Besides, by the time the beer is ready, the strike may be over. Pickering Township (Continued said. it would be a long and costly proceeding. Not only would the county and the township have to be represented by counsel; but each of the other 16 muni- cipalities in the county had the right to be represented by counsel; as in the event the appeal is allowed, the other municipalities would have to assume some of the amount cut from the Picker- ing Township assessment. The total county equalized 1968 assessment on which the 1969 county levy would be based, as approved by county council, was $164,810,925. The Pickering Township share of this amount was 28.79086 per cent or $47, 460,400. REGIST A H SCUGOG TOWNSHIP RETARDED CHILDREN'S EDUCATION !
