By Olga Hill "Seventeen ladies met in the Vestry of the church on Wednesday afternoon for the Unit meeting. Mrs. Walter Wright opene- ed the meeting with a poem "The Cross" and conducted the business. Mrs. Stanford Van Camp, Mrs. Romeril, * Mrs. Wright, and Mrs. Glenn Larmer brought thoughts from Dr. R, McClure's .ad- dress in Whitby. Mrs. Rom- eril then presided and intro- duced the play 'Bitter Heart' which was then read by Msds. G. Skelding, M. Byers, G. Larmer, S. Van Camp and C. Hill. Mrs. Romeril led the worship and closed the meeting, The Esther Unit of the U.C.W. met at the home of Mrs. Harold Martyn on Wed- nesday evening with 9 mem- bers present. Unit Leader Mrs. R. Van Camp opened meeting with a prayer. "I'm not Afraid' 'taken from the book "I Lie on my Mat and Pray" written by Africans. After a short business period the program on an Easter theme was conducted by Mrs. A SR Ya Ivan Mountjoy and Mrs. Mer- rill- Van- Camp. Mrs. Mount: joy read the poem "A Cer- tain Samaritan", followed by call to worship and prayer by Mrs. Van Camp. Lord's Prayer was repeated in uni- son and Hymn "All Hail the Power of Jesus Name" was sung. Scripture--1 Corinth. ians 13:1-11 was read by Mrs, Mountjoy. Mrs. Van Camp read a meditation on Easter from the Hi Venture con- cerning taking the easy way out. "We then 'discussed why we take the easy way. The A.C.W. meeting held in_the Parish Hall on April 18, took the form of a Social to which each member was to bring a guest. The open- ing hymn was, "The Strife is O'er, the Battle Done." Mrs, T. Graham, pres. gave a Bible reading from Luke 24 and led in Prayers. A letter from Mrs. Barnett, Diocesan Prayer Partner Sec., with an enclosure of one from Mrs. Whitbread, in- formed us of the acceptance and appreciation of Canon Whitbread as our new Pray- er Partner. 'All were sorry to learn that Canon Ashmore is in hospital in Peterboro await- ing necessary surgery. Our prapers and good wishes are with the Canon and Mrs. PORT PERRY STAR -- Thursday, April 25th, 1968 -- 5 Ashmore. An interesting program, prepared and in. charge. of P. Hamilton and I. Dempsey, was enjoyed by all. The program consisted of Easter Readings by Mrs. Howard Bailey and several lively con- tests ending with the making of Easter hats. Mrs. Wilbert Archer, on. behalf of the visitors, thanked the A.C.W.- for a pleasant afternoon. Lunch of ice cream, caké and cookies brought the meeting , to a close. The April meeting of the 0.N.O. was held at the home of Alma Duff with 22 mem- bers and 1 visitor present. The minutes of the last meet- ing were read and adopted. Business arising from the minutes, was discussed.
