I hat Port Perry Couple United ~ In Double Ring Ceremony On Saturday, September 23 the Port Perry United Church was 'the scene of a double ring ceremony between Diane Louise Hopkins and William Rodger Stephens. The bride was the only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Hopkins and the groom was the eldest son of Mr. and -Mrs. William Stephens of Port Perry. Beautiful gold mums grac- ed the chancel of the church, carrying out the gold and green theme of the bridal party. The two ministers who officiated the wedding were Rev. A. Rice and Rev. R. Mansfield. The organist was Mrs. G. Forder who play- ed the wedding march as the bride entered the church. On the arm of her father the bride entered the church wearing a floor length gown made completely of chant- illy lace, in a rose pattern, with a fitted bodice-and full ¥ billowing skirt as in the sym- bolic Centennial style. The gown had a square cut neck- line in front, finished in a scalloped lace, and formed a V between the shoulders at the back, The skirt of the gown flowed out from the waistline in three individual shirred wide scalloped tiers which fell in a soft contour from the front of the gown to a centre point in the back: The bottom of these three chantilly lace tiers formed the scalloped hemline of the gown across the front and then spread itself into a mag- nificent softly gathered lace chapel train. The bride wore a Cleopatra style headpiece in floral de- sign of lace, taffeta leaves and petals individually trim- med with seed pearls. The small group of taffeta petals at the back were centered with glittering clear crystal drops and the larger lace petals then formed the out- side of the headpiece drop- ping just slightly to the for- head. Her fine illusion veil- ing rose in a soft, cloud above her head, and then with one layer falling softly over her face three layers of misty veiling fell softly tc below shoulder length. She carried a cascade of lovely yellow sweetheart roses interspersed with Eng- lish Ivy. The bride wore a green emerald necklace and green earings which were girts from the groom. The Matron of Honour was Mrs. Ellen Clarke from Tor- onto, cousin of bride, and the Bridesmaids were Miss Heather Stephens, sister of the groom, Miss Carol Anton of Port Perry, and Miss Hea. ther Hopkins, cousin of the bride from Beaverton. The Bridal attendants were gown: ed in identical styled floor length sleeveless peau de soie de luna of delicate mint green. The empire waist: lines were accentuated by jade green bands and a soft bow at the back. Their headpieces were soft jade green bows which rose in a soft billow of mint and jade green tulle. The attendants carried cascades of identical gold mums interspersed with dark. green. The flower girl, Reanna Falconer, cousin of the groom from Erin, Ontario carried a small basket of yellow mums. Her floor length dress matched that of the attendants. In her hair she wore a soft jade green bow. The ring bearer, Larry Hopkins, brother of the bride carried a white satin pillow on which the rings were-plac- ed. He wore a white suit identical to the groomsmen. Mr. Art Kight of Black- water acted as Best Man for the groom. The ushers were Mr. Howard Moore, cousin of the bride from Oshawa, Mr. Richard Stephens and Mr. Russel Stephens, brothers of the groom. The groomsmen were all attired in black and white tuxcedos. They were Messrs. Neal and Walter McRae. At the reception they led the bridal party into the hall, and played at certain times during the supper. Preceeding the wedding ceremony a reception for one hundred and ten guests was held at the Rebekah Lodge. The Master of Cere- mony was Rev. R. Mansfield. The bride's mother was wearing an attractive after- noon pink lace brocade with matching brocade waist jac- ket. Her feathered white hat was accented with white gloves and pink shoes. She wore a lovely corsage of pure white carnations. The groom's mother chose a two piece essemble of gold brocade with a matching three-quarter length coat. She wore attractive accessor- ies of black hat and shoes. Her corsage was of pure white carnations. The grandmothers of the bride and groom wore cor- sages of -small -white baby mums and the grandfathers wore buttoneers of white carnations, After the reception the guests and the bridal party were entertained at a dance at Club Annrene. For going away the bride chose a navy blue suit of basketweave with side buttoning. She wore light blue accessories and a corsage of a delicate red orchid. Before leaving the bride threw her bouquet to all the young ladies and her "blue garter to all the young gent- lemen. Mr. and Mrs. William Rod- ger Stephens spent their honeymoon in the Lauren- tian Mountains and also at Expo. The happy couple will make their new home at 885 Oxford Street in Oshawa. Out-of-town guests were from Toronto, Guelph, Mont- real, Amherst Nova Scotia, Bancroft, Brantford, Wood- ville, Beaverton, Erin, Co- bourg and Oshawa. * SSE, BRIDE-TO-BE HONOURED AT TROUSSEAU TEA Mrs. William Hopkins en- tertained for her daughter at -{-a-Trousgeau-Tea. Mrs. Hop-|| kins was assisted by the groom's mother, Mrs. Wil- liam Stephens. Presiding over the daintily arranged tea table was the grandmother of the bride, Mrs. Charles Hopkins. Assist- ants in the tea room were Miss Janis Carter, Miss Hea- ther Stephens, Mrs. Mable McMullan and Miss Carol Anton. Miss Penny Bright displayed the trousseau and Miss Marilyn greeted the guests at the door and assist- them in signing the guest book. J J * PRE-NUPTIAL PARTIES The bride and groom were entertained at a delightful community shower in Beaver- ton town hall. The hostesses were Mr. and Mrs. Charles Hopkins, grandparents of the bride and Mr. and Mrs. Len Davis, who entertained one hundred and twenty-five guests. Miss Grace Gordon, an aunt of the groom entertain- ed the bride at a surprise miscellaneous shower at her home in Toronto. The bride was honoured by many of the groom's relatives & friends. Mrs. Mable McMullan ar- ranged a lovely shower for the bride at her home on Queen Street. The bride was honoured by her neighbours and friends. After the wedding rehear- sal, the bridegroom's parents entertained the Bridal party in their home on Bigelow Street.
