As well, the value of feed additives is reached to develop feeds that are effective and economical. Financial power rests more and more with those corporations which sell to, or buy from the farmer. The result is destruction of the farmer's independence. I am convinced that the in- dependent farm is a sound unit for agricultural pro- duction and a desirable social institution. It provides an area in which families may exercise ownership and management, and it fosters personal responsibilities and human dignity. But it must be given a chance to enlarge and meet modern needs and conditions. I and my party believe in the establishment of a Department of Co-operatives, with its own Cabinet Minister, to encourage the greatest development of programs of farm self-help. with Mrs. Vera Brown of Utica as leader and Mrs. Annie Christe as pianist. with relatives.
